From Our Kitchen To Yours...

  

Grilled Steak Sandwich
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 2 1 1/4-inch-thick boneless rib-eye steaks
  • 1 baguette, split, then quartered crosswise
  • 4 slices cheese (of your choice)
  1. In a medium skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the onion and balsamic vinegar and cook, stirring occasionally, for 15 minutes; season with salt and pepper.
  2. Meanwhile, preheat a grill pan over medium-high heat. Rub the steaks with olive oil, salt and pepper. Cook for 6 minutes on each side for medium-rare; remove and tent with foil.
  3. Grill the bread, cut side down, until toasted, about 4 minutes. Slice each steak in half crosswise; place one half on each baguette bottom (trim to fit, if necessary). Top each with a cheese slice, some onions and a baguette top.
Makes a perfect Father's Day lunch for your special guy!  Serve with chips, coleslaw or fries.

  • The person credited for inventing the concept of Father's Day is Mrs. Sonora Smart Dodd, an American whose father had raised his six children single-handedly.
  • The first American president to support the concept of Father's day was President Calvin Coolidge, who did so in 1924.
  • It was in the year 1966 that President Lyndon Johnson signed a presidential proclamation that resulted in the declaration of the third Sunday of June as Father's Day.
  • The declaration of 3rd Sunday of June as Father's Day was signed as a law, and made permanent, by President Richard Nixon, in the year 1972.
  • Father's Day originated in America. The first Father's Day celebration (unofficial) was held in Spokane, Washington, on 19th June 1910.
  • One of the most common gifts associated with Father's Day comprises of a necktie, followed by flowers.
  • Rose is the official flower for Father's Day. Wearing a red rose signifies a living father, while white one represents deceased father.
  • It has been claimed by Hallmark, the renowned greeting card maker, that Father's Day makes up the fifth-largest card-sending holiday in the world.
  • Greeting cards make up the number one gift item on the occasion of Father's Day.

Jace Owen #401
June 2nd and 3rd at Red Bud MX Regional Qualifyer in Buchanan, Michigan gave Jace the opportunity to qualify for his 2012 trip to the big ONE of them all, the 2012 31st Annual Red Bull AMA National Loretta Lynn's Ranch Motorcross Championship at Hurricane Mills, Tennessee.  Jace finished with enough first and second place motos to finish second overall in the 250 B Modified, and first overall in both 250 B Stock and College B/C 16-24.  Jace plans to be in training in Texas with other members of the Rockstar Suzuki Amateur MX Team until later in July when the Ponca City July 23 - 27 and Loretta Lynn's July 30 - August 3 events are scheduled.  Jace is charging hard for big wins at the two back to back National Events for 2012...Go get 'em Jace!
