Message from the Chair
I want to congratulate all our Democratic candidates for their primary wins yesterday. I enjoyed voting for all the great Democratic leaders that I have never seen on my ballot before. Though our slate was already well known and yesterday's vote uncontested, at least in our house, Colorado's new primary date is still another historical mile marker on the road to our victory in the fall.
A critical note on your voter registration: Please don't assume that your general election ballot will be mailed to you next October 16th because you received one during the all mail-in Primary election. Please don't let anyone you speak with assume that they will automatically receive a mail-in ballot next October. Everyone must check their registration for permanent mail in status (Larimer.org/elections) and update as necessary online, on the phone (498-7820), or at our vibrant OFA office at 401 S. Mason, Fort Collins.
We're going to keep our President, keep our Senates, and build better houses in both Washington, D.C. and Denver, Colorado.
--William Russell

League of Women Voters CrossCurrents Discussion:
"How Does Your Vote Count - The Future of Electoral College"
When George W. Bush took office as President of the United States, the U.S. Electoral College came to the forefront of discussions about fairness in elections. An idea that made sense when our country was in its infancy receives more criticism as time and population growth and changes march on. And now a new alternative has been suggested: the National Popular Vote Compact.
The CrossCurrents program will be on Thursday, June 28, at 7:00 pm., at Fort Collins City Council Chambers, 300 Laporte Ave. The event is a live broadcast and will be subsequently screened on Cable Channel 14, with link available on LWV-LarimerCounty.org.
