"They ought to be ashamed."

--Senator Pat Steadman

Last night, Republican leadership in the Colorado House killed Senate Bill 2 which would have provided 27 rights and protections to same-sex couples. The bill was not killed by a vote of the House; the bill was killed by Republican House leaders playing procedural games to ensure a bill with bipartisan support would not be heard.

Along with the civil unions bill, more than 30 other bills died last night because Republican leadership would not allow the House to do the people's business. The list includes: a bill that created legal limits for driving while stoned, education bills, drug bills, economic development bills, a water bill and an elections bill.

Elections matter, and it is vital that we build a better State House!

The time to focus on November is now! Please contribute
to the Larimer County Democrats' Get Out The Vote fund today.

Senator Steadman is correct: Republican leadership should be ashamed of the political games they played last night to pander to a narrow group of hardcore crazies. We must remember the shameful, obstructionist behavior of House Republican leadership this November. We have a great group of candidates who will act like adults at the Capital, but we need to get them elected this November.

Your contribution of $25, $50, $100 or $250
will help us build a better House and elect representatives
who will represent all Coloradoans, not just the far-right fringe.

We can solve the problems Republican leadership created last night by working hard--starting now--to elect Democrats who will put the people's business above politics.

Thank you,

Nathan Morimitsu
