Message from the Chair
It's time to send in your nominations for the awards to be presented at our 2012 Annual Dinner & Silent Auction this March 31st.The criteria for our annual Larimer County Democratic Party awards is listed below. I need everybody to focus and remember that one moment when you thought, "That is one of our most talented (or dedicated) volunteers. "We're so lucky that _______ is working on this project/ this campaign/ this event." Please write it up and send it in. There aren't any style points; help the Fundraising Events Committee and the Executive Board remember how we got so much done this past year. And read about the other two awards and see if a great idea comes to you. The Larimer County Democrats are an all volunteer organization. We grow, elect great Democrats and create good public policy when we remember our volunteers.
And the Democrats that create good public policy are rocking this weekend. Our three Larimer County state legislators are holding a timely forum on the deficient funding for our education system, and one of my personal heroes, Senator Morgan Carroll, is signing her book, Take Back Your Government: A Citizen's Guide to Grassroots Change, in Loveland. This is just Saturday. On Sunday, there're chances to throw your arms around friends and good work all over this blue Larimer. Get out of the house and make something happen.
--William Russell
"If the radical right had its way, we'd all be church-going polyester heterosexuals driving around in white Cadillacs eating meatloaf and wax beans while mammoth bulldozers leveled all our forests and even hummingbirds were extinct." --John Nichols

Silent Auction Donations
Our 1st Vice Chair, Linda Bersch, did a fantastic job with the Silent Auction at our Annual Dinner in 2011.This year, let's give Linda a hand in bringing more donations and contributions. I'm donating lobster dinners at my family's Memorial Day Lobster Steam. I bring in the lobsters from the pristine waters of Hancock County, Me., and the salad greens come from my own garden. Please come up with something special to donate to your Larimer County Democrats in 2012. It's going to be a great auction and a great election.
Donations can be delivered to the Larimer County Democrats office, 606 South Mason, Fort Collins during office hours or to the Shaffer Law office, 218 East Sixth Street, Loveland between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm weekdays.
