Message from the Chair
Tonight is the delivery of the State of the Union Address. President Obama will be correcting a great many of the philosophical and factual contortions presented by the recent Republican candidates during their nomination debates. Two items that POTUS will not be arguing with are the accusations of one candidate's vulture capitalism or another candidate's lobbying deals with Freddie Mac. Those items may be indisputable.
There are many State of the Union watch parties listed below. I don't care who sits with whom, but please be polite and don't yell at any of our elected officials. You might spill your popcorn and annoy your host.
I wish to correct some erroneous information printed in an opinion column in the Coloradoan this morning. The correction is this: Everybody that participates in the Democratic caucuses on March 6th, 2012, will have to be a registered Colorado Democrat by January 6, 2012. There is a 60 day rule on affiliation, but everyone will be welcomed as an observer. Perhaps someone will be moved to affiliate and join us next time.
Another correction: the Larimer County Republicans charge a fee to be a delegate, the Larimer County Democrats never charge a fee to participate as a delegate, and never will.
You can find your correct precinct number by looking up your registration online: Larimer.org/elections. Click on "Am I Registered?" We'll be announcing locations for your March 6th caucus location, and your March 10th Convention/Assembly soon.
--William Russell

"We must foster an economy where businesses and workers can thrive, preserve an environment where our air and water are clean and our citizens healthy and safe, and enhance a society where equality and opportunity are not just words we speak, but ideals that we live."

--Colorado House Minority Leader Mark Ferrandino

State of the Union Watch Parties
In the past, President Obama's State of the Union address has been a plan for the year ahead-and the priorities outlined in those speeches have led to many of this administration's accomplishments. We're getting together all over Fort Collins to watch the 2012 State of the Union Address, celebrate our work so far, and to plan out the next couple of months in Colorado. We have a lot of work to do, but working together, we can build teams in our community to stand with our President and Democrats. Now, more than ever, your voice is needed to determine our country's future.
