Message from the Chair

Please join Representative John Kefalas in the home of Rick Price and Paola Malpezzi-Price to for John's state senate campaign kick-off. Former Speaker of the Colorado House Andrew Romanoff and Representative Randy Fischer will help with this momentous event. Please see the details below.

The Mail-In Election that ends on November 1st will elect directors for the Poudre and the Thompson R2-J school districts, and municipal officials in the fair city of Loveland. Mail-in ballots will be sent October 11th to active voters residing in the appropriate districts. Only voters that participated in the general election of 2010 and those that have registered after that will

be mailed ballots on October 11th. Until October 3rd, inactive voters can request a ballot by calling the Larimer County Elections division at 498-7820 or check their status online at www.Larimer.org/elections.

After October 3rd, a registered voter must visit a walk-in service center to get a ballot. There will be three walk-in centers, one in Fort Collins, Loveland and Estes Park. The addresses can also be found on the Larimer Co. elections site under the current election tab.

--William Russell

"Right now, Denver is looking to send ballots to all inactive voters.
We've told them that violates Colorado state law,
and we're asking them to cease and desist."

--Secretary of State Scott Gessler, in a

statement sent to Fox31 Denver.

On Monday, the Colorado Reapportionment Commission adopted final state legislative district maps for the state's 35 Senate and 65 House districts. In bipartisan votes (8-3 for the House and 9-2 for the Senate), the Commission made substantial changes to almost all of the previous districts. For the next decade, these new district lines will define how our communities are represented in the legislature and how we fight for Democratic values.  Click here for the maps.

Both pdf and Google Earth versions are available (the Google Earth version is much more detailed but requires a software download).

I am sure many of us are concerned about the political implications of these new districts. We are carefully reviewing every detail and will have more analysis soon. I am confident that with hard work and a strong effort across the state, Democrats will regain the State House and maintain our majority in the Senate.

Thank you for your interest and all that you do to support Democrats in Colorado.

Sincerely,

Rick Palacio

Chairman, Colorado Democratic Party
