Colorado Secretary of State Scott Gessler is coming to Larimer County in two weeks to sit in a dunk tank at a fundraiser for the Larimer County Republican Party. The Larimer County Republican Party is drowning in debt after failing to file finance reports as required by law. The Larimer County Republican Party racked up $48,700 in fines for breaking the law. Scott Gessler reduced the Larimer County Republican Party's fine to $15,700. Instead of enforcing the law, Scott Gessler is now coming to town to help those who violated the law.

 

This is all wet! 

 

Your Larimer County Democrats are not drowning in debt. We have always been dedicated to the letter and the intent of Colorado election law. We are an all-volunteer organization whose sole source of funding is donations from people like you and me who believe we shouldn't have to live in a Republican cesspool like this.

Scott Gessler's spokesman said, "The Larimer County Republicans are angry and frustrated having to pay the largest fine ever imposed in our office's history. This is a way for them to relieve those frustrations." Each and every voter in Colorado should be frustrated with Scott Gessler's arrogance and lack of ethics. I'm frustrated that this State of Colorado elected official, Scott Gessler, is unethical, biased, and raising funds for local lawbreakers. We're all caught in this undertow, and we're not going to survive unless we start swimming now.

Rick Palacio, Colorado Democratic Party Chairman said, "This is a gross conflict of interest that Secretary Gessler should know to avoid. Serious ethical questions arise when the secretary of state is actively helping the Larimer County Republicans pay off a fine his office imposed, and then reduced."
