Greetings!
Riau in March! Friday the 9th to Sunday the 11th.
This is an 8 dive weekend, with 5 dives on Saturday and 3 on Sunday.
Traveling overnight on a live-on-board boat (ex Singapore), the Riau Islands that we will be diving are 60-70 nautical miles south of Batam, Indonesia. They are sheltered and the diving is relaxed with a max depth of 25m and an average depth of 10-18m. Suitable for divers from newbies to experienced, looking for somewhere different to dive.
If you would like more information about what we see at Riau, please read my last Riau trip report here.
Whilst the Riau Archipelago is a cluster of islands south of Singapore (of which Batam and Bintan are the best known), our trips are the only available to the far south. We visit the rarely dived, beautiful world of the past.
This is a land of countless uninhabited islands, interrupted only by the occasional small fishing village. Most of the locals live much the way they did several hundred years ago, without TV, refrigeration, electric lighting, telephones, motor vehicles, roads, grocery stores, hotels or the other trappings of modern society.
I look forward to diving with you soon.
