Watch Out When You Are Backing Up

Since the risks are higher for accidents while backing, take special care to make sure you don't back-up without visually clearing the area behind you first. Regularly, people are struck by backing vehicles in driveways and parking lots; especially children, simply because drivers do not look behind before backing up. 

 

More than 90% of backing accidents can be attributed to one of the following:

  • Driver unaware of the obstacle
  • Driver used improper backing techniques

Boating Season is On the Way!

According to the U.S. Coast Guard, there are nearly 14 million registered recreational boats in the United States supporting water recreation activities for more than 80 million Americans.

 

Though significant statistics, the risk of injuries and accidents can be minimized by adhering to safety recommendations.

With so many enjoying the waterways, it is not surprising nearly 5,000 boating accidents leading to the medical treatment of 4,000 people were reported in 2008. Property damage from these accidents totaled more than $40 million.
