Umpire Clinic-$30.00 plus HST
This is a one-day course on the basic RCA Rules of Racing. Upon completion of the course, candidates are considered Level 1 Associate Umpires and can continue their training to become Level 2 RCA Umpires.  

 

February 25, 2012- London Rowing Club

Learn to Row- $130.00 plus HST
 Instructors teaching Learn to Row camps or lessons should take this workshop. This is a hands on course where the coach leaves as a Trained Learn to Row coach. An evaluation is required to become a Certified Learn to Row coach.  

 

April 14&15- Severn River Rowing Club
April 28 & 29- Argonaut Rowing Club

Learn to Row with Adaptive Module- June 2012- date and location TBA.

RCA Coach- $170.00 plus HST

This coach certification is for those coaches who will be coaching competitive athletes. The RCA Coach certification is split over two weekends. Weekend #1 introduces concepts, movement screen and an assignment for practical application.

Following attending Weekend #1 coaches take time to complete their assignment and apply the knowledge. The coach can then attend Weekend #2. Following Weekend #2 the coach will be entered in to the NCCP database as trained after completing the two weekend workshops. 

The coach will be certified after successful completion of the RCA Coach evaluation

 

February 25&26- Weekend #1- St. Catharines Rowing Club
April 21 & 22- Weekend #1- Argonaut Rowing Club
March 3 &4- Weekend #2- Eastern Ontario


RCA Performance Coach (6 modules total)- $255.00 plus HST There are six multi-sport modules plus a number of rowing specific modules that will be offered as part of the training.

Two of these modules are being adapted for rowing and will be offered in a rowing-specific environment.

  • Developing Athletic Abilities for Rowing 
  • Prevention and Recovery  

The other four modules are being delivered now and coaches can take these through their provincial coaching organization in a multi-sport environment.

  • Leading and Coaching Effectively (1.5 days),
  • Managing Conflict (4 hours)
  • Leading Drug Free Sport (3.5 hours)
  • Performance Psychology (7 hours)

This session is being held following the rave reviews and demand from  the short presentation by Ron at the Training Conference. This session will run in the morning with a light refreshments to follow.

Redcross Standard First Aid & CPR

Date: March 24 & 25, 2012

Comprehensive two-day course offering first aid and cardiopulmonary

resuscitation (CPR) skills for those who need training due to work requirements or who want more knowledge to respond to emergencies at home.

Includes the latest first aid and CPR guidelines. Meets federal and a varietyof provincial/territorial regulations for Standard First Aid and CPR. Exceeds competitors' standards by including injury prevention content, CPR and AED. 3-Year certification upon completion of session.

Employment 101 & Fundraising 101

Date: March 31, 2012

This one combo session will be packed full of incredibly important information about personnel tailored to the rowing club atmosphere. Presented by Steven J. Indig, BRec, LLB of the Sport Law & Strategy Group. This session is a hot session with clubs- bring your note pads and questions. The second part of the session is focused on Fundraising 101 tailored again to Not for Profit club atmosphere. Learn the key features of a successful Fundraising campaign as well as some tips and tools.

Call for Applications: Learning Facilitators for LTR and RCA Coach

ROWONTARIO is putting out a call for coaches interested in becoming Learning Facilitators trained to deliver Learn to Row or RCA Coach coaching clinics.

Coach Bursaries Available

Canada Games Coach Bursary

 

Coaches interested in coaching the at the 2013 Canada Summer Games are eligible to apply for a bursary for up to $500.00 to help support their coaching certification development.

 

ROWONTARIO has bursaries of up to $500.00 available to support coaches in attending the Rowing Canada Conference or the Ontario Coaching Association conference.

 

Please apply by email with a resume (including coaching certification status) and a small paragraph indicating your plans to utilize the funding towards your development as a potential Canada Games Coach.
