Dear Umpires,
In addition to providing opportunities to participate on National Regatta Juries, in an effort to expand its support of Umpire Development, RCA has created the RCA Umpire Development Program.

(Dates have been adjusted for the 2012 program, as the policy was just approved by the RCA Board of Directors and circulated to the provinces.)
The RCA Umpires Committee feels that development opportunities across the country are vital to the continued development and retention of umpires. With this in mind, the Umpires Committee has created the Rowing Canada Aviron Umpires Development Program.
Through the generous donation of the Organizing Committee of the 2001 Montreal FISA Masters Regatta, a fund was created for the development of umpiring in Canada. Using a portion of this fund as well as the umpires committee budgeted funds, the RCA Umpires Committee shall provide
support to umpires on an annual basis to take advantage of development opportunities at specified regattas strategically placed across Canada.
This program will be contingent on the RCA annual operating budget.
The committee will allocate support to a maximum of $2500.00 for this program for the fiscal year 2012-2013 to assist umpires to attend the following regattas:
Brentwood Regatta - April 27th to April 29th, 2012, Mill Bay, British Columbia.
Eastern Rowing Association Championships - July 7-8, 2012, Montreal, Quebec.
ROWONTARIO Championship Regatta - July 28-29, 2012, Welland, Ontario.
In accordance with the terms of this RCA program, a candidate selected from Ontario would be directed to the Ontario Championships or possibly the ERA Championships, depending on the candidate's home town.
If you are interested in being considered for this program, please email your application to Ashley Lewis by Thursday January 12 at admin@rowontario.ca .
The following information must be included in your email:
a) Your name;
b) Year licensed;
c) Regatta which you would like to be considered for;
d) Short explanation outlining how this will benefit your development as an umpire;
e) A written commitment that, if selected, you will attend the regatta, regardless of funding level provided by the RCA program. (The program will only cover part of the Umpire's out of pocket expenses, not your full cost)
Applications received by fax will not be acknowledged or considered by ROWONTARIO.
The ROWONTARIO selection committee will then review the applications, and submit the Ontario nomination to RCA on or before January 18, 2012.
All umpires selected by Rowing Canada Aviron will be informed of their appointment not later than March 15th, 2012.
