ROWONTARIO Announces Slate of Candidates for 2011 Annual General Meeting

Subject: ROWONTARIO Nominating Committee Slate of Candidates

Please find below two slates of candidates for the election of the ROWONTARIO Board of Directors to be held at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) on December 4, 2011 in Mississauga.

The first table provides the slate of candidates recommended by the Nominating Committee to fill each of the Board of Director positions under the proposed (new) Governance Model to be presented for approval at the AGM prior to Board elections.

The second table provides the slate of candidates under the present (old) Governance Model. This will be used if the membership does not approve the new Governance Model. In this case, the District Representative elections will be held amongst the member clubs from those areas and the Nominating Committee has not sought candidates for those posts.

Other candidates not proposed on the Nominating Committee's slate of candidates for any of the elected offices shall announce their intent, in writing to the Secretary, no less than 30 days prior to the AGM. (Friday November 4, 2011). Such candidates require the sponsorship of 2 Voting Member Clubs/Associations in good standing. Candidates for office must be ROWONTARIO members in good standing.

This is an excellent slate of candidates to implement the new Governance Model, and also supports Board renewal by providing a good balance between experienced and new board members. The proposed candidates also come with a wide variety of rowing backgrounds and interests, and provide some diversity in regional representation.
