The purpose of this note is to provide additional information on the nomination process for the ROWONTARIO Board of Directors leading up to our Annual General Meeting in December 2011.

The focus of nominations this fall will be to prepare a slate

of candidates to fill positions under the new Board structure,

which was explained in the President's note to the membership a few days ago.

The Nominating Committee will  also prepare a second contingency list in the case that the governance amendments

are not supported by the membership.

The first step is for candidates to formally declare their intent

to stand for a position by writing to the Nominating Committee care through me at mwalker.orc@gmail.com

The period for members to declare their intent will run from

now to 10 October. Please include in your application a brief note describing why you are interested in a position(s) and a

short (no more than two pages) resume describing pertinent

rowing, sport, volunteer and professional experience. Should you be interested, but have questions before making a commitment, I suggest you contact either me, Derek Ventnor or Lynda Dundas.

The Nominating Committee will publish a recommended slate of candidates on 20 October 2011, 45 daysbefore the AGM

scheduled for 4 December 2011. Other candidates not proposed on the Nominating Committee's slate of candidates for any of the elected offices shall announce their intent, in

writing, to the Secretary, no less than 30 days prior to the AGM. Such candidates require the sponsorship of 2 Voting

Member Clubs/Associations in good standing. Candidates for

office must be RowOntario members in good standing.

The ROWONTARIO Secretary shall inform all Member Clubs/Associations of the names of those seeking office, 15 days prior to the Annual General Meeting.

The ROWONTARIO  Secretary shall provide a list

of candidates seeking office, to each Member Club/Association Representative and the Board of Directors attending the Annual General Meeting. If you have any questions on the nominating process, feel free to contact me

at the address above and I would be happy to follow up by email or through a phone call.
