Do you have a concern about a student but aren't sure what to do?
Instructors interact with their students on campus, online, and within the office setting. As such, instructors are a powerful asset in recognizing students with academic or personal difficulties which threaten their success at UNT.
Here are several ways you can help your students achieve success:
1) START Office Early Alert Response System (EARS)
Concerned about a student? Have a student who has been absent a lot or is just not doing well in class? Follow these steps to submit an Alert through our secure online system -- an EARS Responder will attempt to contact the student and may make referrals to appropriate ON and OFF campus resources.
2) Blackboard Learn
Early Warning System
Is a performance problem emerging or becoming more serious for your student? Instructors use this rule-driven communication tool to send email messages to Students and their Observers when Early Warning System rule criteria are met. (Rules can be based on a test score, calculated column, due date, or course access.)
3) Counseling and Testing Services
For Faculty, TA/TF and Staff who work with students

Transformative Instructional
Initiative (TII) Fellowships Summer, 2012: Globalizing your Curriculum
The Transformative Instruction Initiative (TII) provides support for faculty to enrich their courses through innovative instructional design. The purpose of this program is to increase the number and scope of courses, regardless of discipline, that use engaging teaching strategies in face to face, online, and experiential environments to provide a high level of learning for students and support academic success.
Through the TII program, faculty fellows transform a part of their course using current literature on teaching and learning and successful course design methods tested at UNT. Support for the redesign is provided by faculty colleagues, CLEAR staff and in 2012, UNT-International. Faculty participants will offer the redesigned units or lessons during the subsequent academic year. The initiative provides faculty with training in instructional design, assessment, and research related to innovative instruction across disciplines and instructional modes. While the redesigns can and should differ based on the subject matter and individual instructional style, a common focus applies to all TII courses.
The 2012 theme for the TII experience is:
Increasing student engagement by adding a global dimension to the course to assist learners to acquire a higher-level conceptual understanding of international collaboration and global perspectives. This component will include the infusion of global perspectives in student learning outcomes and instructional strategies.
