The University of North Texas is upgrading its learning management system from Blackboard Vista 8 to Blackboard Learn 9.1.

Starting this fall, the Center for Learning Enhancement, Assessment, and Redesign (CLEAR) will assist faculty with the move to the new system by migrating Blackboard Vista courses and by offering training workshops on Blackboard Learn 9.1. The migration schedule and links to the migration request form and training registration page are provided below.

All courses currently on Blackboard Vista 8 will be migrated to Blackboard Learn 9.1 by the end of 2012.

Please have your request for the Spring 2012 semester submitted by November 23, 2011.

We strongly encourage you to register for online or face-to-face training on Blackboard Learn 9.1 offered by the CLEAR instructional consulting team. Our training will help you become familiar with the new system and learn how to prepare for any revisions you may decide to make post-migration. A schedule of the training we are offering in October may be found here.

To register for an upcoming training session, please follow the instructions below:

  1. Log into my.unt.edu
  2. Click on Human resources
  3. Click on Training and Development
  4. Click "request Training enrollment"
  5. Enter BBL into the Course Name search field

More information about the migration can be found on our website at https://ecampussupport.unt.edu/index.cfm?M=News. If you have any questions, please email the CLEAR faculty helpdesk at clearhelp@unt.edu.

Thank A Teacher memo

http://thanks.unt.edu

Outstanding teachers at UNT do make a difference for students.  They make learning challenging and fun; they are available when needed; and they weather many storms with students to foster bright futures.  When teachers have made this kind of a difference, many students wish for a way to say "Thanks".

UNT students have a new way to say "Thanks" through the "Thank a Teacher" Program here at UNT.  Students can complete the form at http://thanks.unt.edu to share their thanks with their teacher(s).  Students may complete as many of these forms as they wish (one for each teacher they wish to thank).  They may also choose to remain anonymous.  Their notes will be sent to their teachers as part of a letter of recognition from the Provost once final grades have been submitted for the semester!

Students may ask you about Thank A Teacher - either in the classroom or around campus - and we wanted you to be aware of this new program.

Please contact Nancy Fire at nancy.fire@unt.edu or (940)369-8744 with any questions about the Thank A Teacher program.

CLEAR welcomes visit from PanAmerican University!

On October 4th, CLEAR welcomed visitors from PanAmerican University (Universidad Panamericana) - Dr. Carmen Villa, Director of Center for Innovation in Education and Ms. Yanira Matienzo, Coordinator, Center for Innovation in Education.  These visitors were reviewing faculty support centers nationally and requested to visit with CLEAR to inform their own practice.

We want to take this moment to say kudos to Brenda Ritz, Scott Windham, and the UNTVN team for their Soaring Eagle recognition!

Here's what Lisa Baronio, VP for Advancement & Director of Development of the UNT Foundation had to say about CLEAR:

UNT recently received the largest philanthropic gift in our history.  We wanted to announce the gift and thank the donor in a very special way, but the donor was unable to travel to the US for the occasion. Thanks to the CLEAR team, we brought Charn to UNT and UNT to Charn in Thailand live via satellite! This was no easy feat, and it required special equipment checks at 1 a.m. to make sure everything was ready. Without the dedication of the CLEAR team, this would not have been possible.
