The origin of the inexhaustible Source, an "imperceptible thread indefinitely spun" (Laozi Chapter 6), is the miraculous effectiveness of the Spirits. The place to look for the source of the living is in "the birth of Heaven and Earth." The Spirits come from Heaven and consent to remain within a man only if his heart is as serene and empty as Heaven itself...

           The 13 Appearances
Ling Shu Chapter 8: Ben Shen (Rooting in the Spirits)

Heaven gives and Earth receives. Heaven animates and Earth gives birth. Heaven sustains Earth with love and blesses her with light. The creative movement is called Virtue. The Virtue of Heaven falls upon Earth, penetrating and filling her. Sun and moon are witness to the heavenly Virtue.

Water is the manifestation of Heaven. This power also falls within us, "in an equally silent thunder." We call it "Virtue." This Virtue brings to life, develops and maintains the movement of each being. Its gift and receipt can be an observable, visible phenomenon. In its invisible aspect, it is the mystery to be contemplated, as if we were standing before a latticed doorway. (In order to see through it, we must know how to position ourselves, and how to receive the image that comes to our eyes.) The expanding power that stops right here, to make me into a being, can be compared to the cascading of the waters from Heaven. Here and there this gushing can be seen. The continuity of the impetus (of the yang movement) can be perceived in the changes, appearing as transformations. We think of a rocky basin where the fallen splashing water collects and then escapes through a channel. The twisting of its particular course may push the water on in torrents, or stop it in ponds. The earth may drink and absorb the water, or move it on in clever irrigation of gardens and fields, until it joins the sea and the air before its return to Heaven. Throughout all these transformations, water remains the Virtue that gives life. The proud Virtue of Heaven consents to become the humble virtue of a man. There are thirteen stages, thirteen ideograms, to indicate the changes and transformations. Where they meet-the theatre of exchange, the rendez-vous of the Spirits that hasten forth from Heaven-is the place where my life is rooted. This place is "I" wo, "my heart" wo xin.

A 3 Part Workshop

The Taoist Creation Tale...how "the proud Virtue of Heaven consents to become the humble virtue of a man." To become a human being. This study will be applied directly to the Art of the Heart and the development of the practitioner to diagnose and treat at the level of the Spirits.

We will also pay attention, as the clincals unfold, to the ways in which we are being called to treat in our time. Working with The 13 Appearances is to work at the root of Taoist Alchemical Medicine.

This Didactic Day will continue in each of the

3 weekends for more advanced practitioner training.

(There will be an evening treatment following the workshop to which all are invited to shadow.)

Saturday and Sunday Clinic:

 Clinical Treatment Days:

(These longer and deeper treatments utilize ancient Taoist protocols and arise from the clinical work on Wednesday/Thursday)

More rigorous clinical application and exploration of the spirit of this Tradition. Treatments on these two days generally work with much longer segments of time and practitioner training is rigorous. The Art of Needling and Moxabustion, Treatment Planning and Execution, the Disciplines of to See, to Hear, to Ask and to Feel. The capacity to ethically and maturely follow the movement of the Wild Magic of this Ancient Tradition. To work with the Rooting of the Spirits, with major obstructions and the Restoration of True Qi.

The Rooting of the Spirits allows us to participate more consciously in the miracle of HeavenEarth.  We work by virtue of the ancient alchemical classics of Taoist Medicine.

From the Very Beginning. These ancient protocols,

Songs left for us now,

have particular relevance to the deep transformational work of Our Time.

9AM - 9PM***CEU'S AVAILABLE

In keeping with the rigorous training inherent in these alchemical protocols, Practitioner training in these two days is highly individualized, hearkening more to the ancient apprentice-model of training.

Shadowing fee $100.00

Treatment cost $500.00

prayer flag

With the drawing of this Love
And the voice of this Calling

We shall not cease from exploration

And the end of all our exploring

Will be to arrive where we started

And know the place for the first time.

Through the unknown, unremembered gate

When the last of earth left to discover

Is that which was the beginning;

At the source of the longest river

The voice of the hidden waterfall

And the children in the apple-tree

Not known, because not looked for

But heard, half-heard, in the stillness

Between two waves of the sea.

Quick now, here, now, always-

A condition of complete simplicity

(Costing not less than everything)

And all shall be well and

All manner of thing shall be well

When the tongues of flame are in-folded

Into the crowned knot of fire

And the fire and the rose are one.

Dearest One and All.

Our deep gratitude to you who sit with us at this Portal of Learning.

Those who were here before, those who are here now and those yet to come. Blessed Be.

We gather as physician's, as patients, as artists,

as teachers and students, as wayfarer's

Our sense returned.  Our Heart utilized.  Our minds disciplined.

To remember the Ancient Songs of this Tradition.

(They are so very needed here and now.)

To become Teachable to this Living Tradition of Medicine,

that we may become Servants to and for It.

As our disciplines strengthen we are able to extend our Hand to individuals in need with far greater depth and precision.  As individuals and as a group of devoted humans.

The clinical training remains at the center of our attention for both practitioners and patients.

For this collaboration there is no end to the happiness bestowed.

We encourage you to pass this invitation on to any colleagues, friends, fellow students/travelers in this Classical Tradition that you believe might wish to join us. Please contact either Laura (stillpointacu@gmail.com), Noah (nstelmok@gmail.com) or Meg (chiya@gwi.net) with any questions, comments, requests.
