The new Season in the Northern Hemisphere is offering an abundent range of Regatta options, including the Alpen Cup, many National 5.5m Championships, regular local racing out of many harbours and in September the Cup races and the World Championship in Boltenhagen.
 | Ready to win: Close & ambitious International competition |
Five of the National Open Championships will count for the newly donated 5-Nations-Cup. A low point system will apply to determine the winner. Those wishing to go for the new Cup will plan to travel to all or some of these destinations: France, Austria, Netherlands, Norway and Switzerland.
 | Ready to surf: 2 tons with 65sqm of Spinnaker-fun! |
We will see both, boats with long tradition of participation and as the Class is growing, also new participants. For the Gold-Cup in September we are looking forward to be greeting Crews from Denmark and the Cayman Islands for the first time.
The Cup-Races will be followed by the World Championship in Boltenhagen. The Entry List is rapidly growing, with participants in all 3 Class divisions. Given the 60th anniversary of the first 5.5m Olympic regattas in Helsinki, special prizes will be given to the fastest Vintage Classic boat built for 1952, 56, 60, 64 and 1968. In the Evolution category we will see participation growth for this unique segment, which we are especially dedicating to having young crews entering the Class. In the Modern field we will welcome many well known faces and former World Champions, as well as - following ownership changes - looking forward to be seeing new competitors entering the races.
