Gaynor Sward, M. Sc, Our new IT teacher.

Gaynor, a BC Certified teacher with a wealth of teaching experience, has worked with students and adult learners from middle-school to university. Her passion is to replace the fear of learning with a sense of adventure. Gaynor engages her students in the learning process, helping them to better understand the world around them as well as who they are and how they fit in that world. Although Gaynor is passionate about making science and technology intelligible and accessible, she also realizes that math's quirkiness is uncommon to most and so has learned to compensate with a broad smile and a sense of humour. Her Master's thesis and subsequent software career brought her face-to-face with real-life industrial robotics and automation. Gaynor is a mother of four boys, aged 5 to 21, from whom she has gained humility and joy.

Gaynor will be helping to teach some of our classes, develop our curriculums, build a streamlined operations system and create a new website and database for our company.
Girls and TECHNOLOGY

Engineers are creative problem-solvers who aim to improve the world, increase productivity, and help people live better lives. They apply math and science principles to design everything from 3-D televisions to bionic body parts to hybrid cars. Just imagine how many engineers worked to improve airplanes so that they can carry up to 800 people-or ,how many engineers created the Kingda Ka roller coaster that travels at 128 miles per hour! Engineers not only work on exciting projects, but are also part of a growing field with above-average salaries. Imagine Engineering gives you an overview of some of the common types of engineers and their job duties-but this is just the beginning. You'll also find profiles of women engineers, tips and advice, and Web sites where you can learn more.

We are offering a course in South Surrey to encourage Girls to get involved in tech, engineering, science and math. Gaynor will be teaching this course, so expect great things!
Adapted Learners
We have created a culture of honor, respect and kindness to those who are autistic or have special needs.  In Gateways programs, they will find a creative solace in a fun and exciting environment. They are able to to explore the boundaries of their gifts while developing their confidence within safe paramenters. We have worked in classrooms with kids in high needs situations such as adhd, aspergers and other forms of autism. Many have excelled in our classes and gone on to be some of our best performers.

We are going to start opening up classes unique to these learners and they will be limited to a maximum of 4 students. Our first class will be held in White Rock. Gaynor will be teaching this class as she is passionate about these students. She will be using techniques developed by experts guided in neurodevelopment.
