Register now for FIRST® LEGO® League
| FIRST® LEGO® League teams improve the quality of food by finding ways to prevent food contamination? In the 2011 Food Factor Challenge, over 200,000 9-16* year olds from over 55 countries will explore the topic of food safety and examine the possible points of contamination our food encounters - from exposure to insects and creatures, to unsterile processing and transportation, to unsanitary preparation and storage - then find ways to prevent or combat these contaminates. In the Food Factor Challenge, teams will build, test, and program an autonomous robot using LEGO® MINDSTORMS® NXT to solve a set of Food Safety missions as well as research, develop, and share their innovative food safety solutions. Throughout their experience, teams will operate under FLL's signature set of Core Values.

Academically Gifted
|
Gateways recognizes that there are kids who love S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and want to go beyond the level of their normal classes. Unfortunately, many children in the school systems are not finding a level of satisfaction needed to fulfill their desires for learning achievement. To capture the imagination of those who love to learn, we have created amazing programs geared towards these students. For more info; http://www.gatewaysinternational.ca/academicallygifted.htm

The Maker Faire Contest!
| How would you like to join us for the Maker Faire? Well you can and all it takes is for those who can build the best project within 15 days. Choose what you want...it doesn't matter. It just has to be cool and your project has to be submitted within the next 13 days. So you can build a LEGO Technics Articulate Truck, or a LEGO Mindstorms Star Wars AT-ST Mark 1 or maybe a really cool concept or whatever your imagination can come up with.
1st prize wins: 1 week camp offered at a school or GLC (Not at a rec centre) 2nd prize wins: 1 free workshop 3rd prize wins: 1 tee shirt and a solar panel robot
All the submissions will be added to our site so no matter what you do, try anyway...you never know who's going to win. So show us what you have got and who knows, you might become a youtube star!

Vancouver Mini Maker Faire will take you through an inspiring, energetic and captivating range of exhibits, including workshops, performances, displays, and a speaker series. Some of the features include pyrotechnics, kinetic sculptures, interactive musical installations, and 3d printers that can print themselves. Interaction booths stationed throughout will centre around education: teaching people how to complete a circuit, spin wool, or smoke bacon! http://vancouver.makerfaire.ca/ |
