Where has the New Year gone? It's already February and Spring is around the corner. As things begin to heat up, we hope you are preparing for an amazing year.

| BC Skills Connect Tournament |  We have started a new team for the BC Skills Connect Tournament. We are still looking for more members. So if you are interested, please let us know ASAP, since we only have one spot left to make the team. We can take more members, but only three will make the team.
Overview of the Invitational NXT Robotics Engineering Challenge:
This pilot challenge will be held at the upcoming Skills Canada Provincial competition in Abbotsford
- This will be a Demonstration Event - (Vendor status)
- It is our goal that this type of challenge will become an official Skills Canada event in the future
Using only the NXT Mindstorms® platform, engineering teams build and program a robotic device to complete up to 5 missions in total. Students will learn about the specific nature of the challenge on the morning of April 20th 2011.

| The Gifted Program |  Gateways recognizes that there are kids who love S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and want to go beyond the level of their normal classes. Unfortunately, many children in the school systems are not finding a level of satisfation needed to fulfill their desiresor dreams . To capture the imagination of those who love to learn, we have created amazing programs geered towards these students.
Maybe your son or daughter doesn't need tutoring. What they might need is a passion for learning. When your kids become passionate about what they do, then they will excel at it. That's what we do. |
| The BC Government's declares the Year of Science | 
Gateways is partnering with the BC Government's Year of Science to promote science to young learners. Join with this initiative to help our children learn about these important and pressing issues. Calling all scientific sleuths and myth busters! The Year of Science wants YOUR great ideas for cool science experiments, inventions or innovative methods for myth busting. Have you ever heard that lightning never strikes in the same place twice? Or that gravity doesn't exist in space? Perhaps you've seen the wacky Mentos dropped in cola experiment, or attempted to plunge your hands into a curious concoction of cornstarch and water? If so, it's time to use your imagination, creativity and scientific know-how to devise a clever experiment aimed at proving or disproving some of the world's greatest mysteries! Or, if you love to test your theories and solve problems, create an amazing experiment that will stand out from all the rest. By entering the Year of Science 'Choose Science. Go Far. Win Big.' contest, you'll not only have an opportunity to showcase your research, science skills and knowledge - you could win a scholarship worth $25,000 towards your future science goals! Look at topics addressed by others and ask yourself, what questions are unanswered? Look for a problem and try to explain or solve it. We are looking for innovative, fresh ideas. | First LEGO League | |
 We started off the year with our tournament at BCIT where we tried to win the competition. For our first attempt, we did great and look forward to the following year. We came 2nd in Robotics Design. This is a great opportunity for young students to experience a fun competition while learning about amazing things.
We will be registering for the next tournament in May and will taking in applications in July. There is only 12 spots available, so if you are interested in this, please reserve early. |
