Did you freeze your closed circuit cooling tower coil this season? Ouch!

All may not be lost. If you're lucky, there will be just a single leak that is accessible. Just weld the crack closed and cold galvanize the repair.

Multiple leaks that are deep in the coil pack present more of a challenge but can be addressed by removing a leaky circuit or two from service. This can keep you on line until a replacement is secured. Actually, loosing a few circuits can go unnoticed- especially if the tower was initially oversized. If there are 100 circuits and one is lost, 99% of the active surface remains. This theoretically leaves about 99% capacity but the impact is actually less since the dead circuit(s) physically stay in place providing secondary evaporative surface to cool the spray water.
