"Take off" with Trackman

As a fitting tool, the Trackman Launch Monitor has many facets that help to get the best from one's clubs. Primarily it gives us an accurate measurement of the ball dynamics in flight which identifies how efficiently the clubs are performing. Through testing varying options of shaft weight, bend profile, flex and club loft, it provides hard evidence which helps identify the best club set up for each player.

Club gapping is now also available with Trackman, please see below for more information about this service.

How PURE are your shafts?

We have upgraded to the very latest SST PURE SPECS Machine as found on the USPGA SST Tour Van. The addition of this machine, launched in this year's 2010 PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, allows us to operate not only at a higher capacity but more efficiently.  If you're not already familiar with SST PURE, we incorporate this technology into every club we build to ensure that offline shaft bending or twisting is minimised so that shafts perform for the exact characteristics they have been selected for. It is similar to an airport trolley with a sticking wheel that wants to consistently pull you off line from your intended direction of travel.

Trackman Club Gapping - Do you know YOUR yardages?

Trackman Gapping ReportTo maximize their scoring potential, Touring Professionals KNOW the yardages they hit the ball with every club in the bag. This makes it much easier for them to execute their game plans and allows them to be confident over each and every shot. Our Trackman Club Gapping session gives you this knowledge.

What's the point of using "laser range finders" or GPS devices if you do not know which club is required for the yardage you are provided with?

Using the special software in the Trackman system, you can hit a number of shots with every club in your bag and Trackman will give us an accurate report on the average distance you hit each club and the gap between them. This data can then be used to plan your course strategies more effectively and also identify possible issues with the lofts on your clubs. Therefore we will also check the loft & lie settings on your Irons & Wedges.

New Technology Arriving Soon - Milling Machine
Precision Golf will soon acquire a new industrial milling machine which will help alleviate club balance (swingweight) issues associated with club head weight typically found in wedges as well as putters.

When needing to build clubs to a certain swingweight, club headweight is one of the discerning factors.  If too heavy, one of the techniques to reduce head weight is to grind and reshape the sole of the club, this removes material and lowers the weight. However, if we do not wish to disturb the characteristics of the sole for performance or aesthetic reasons, we are able to mill holes in the rear of the wedge which is often referred to in the industry as "porting". This method can also be used to add additional weight to putters.

Tips & Drills - Critical Factors Influencing Your Game

Whilst we are all aware of the importance of driver loft, head style and shaft, the most forgotten element but an area that has one of the biggest affects on performance, is technique. The club path and angle of attack of the Driver head when teeing off is very important and can pay huge dividends when performed correctly.

The majority of players strike their drives with a slightly downward trapping strike, much as one would with an iron when taking a divot and on an out-to-in path. Due to the structural dynamics of the current Driver heads, this causes the ball to slip up the face and increases spin dramatically, stifling distance and decreasing shot consistency. If your drives tend to pop-up into the air with a left to right shape, landing softly rather than running out and stalling into the wind, the chances are that you are hitting down on the back of the ball at impact.

By feeling like you actually launch the ball higher and sweeping up on the back of the ball through impact and from inside-to-out, much like a top spin tennis shot, all the mass in the driver head is channelled along the flight path rather than across it and will produce a more efficient strike and a stronger, more penetrating trajectory. This should not only give greater distance but should also produce a far more consistent overall performance shot to shot off the tee, reducing the amount of side spin on the ball giving a straighter shot pattern.
