PureJoy

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything."  (James 1:2-4)

Opening Quote, Scripture, and Prayer

This Week's Opening Quote -

"There are two great forces, God's force of good and the devil's force of evil, and I believe Satan is alive and he is working, and he is working harder than ever. . . ." (Billy Graham, American evangelist)

This Week's Scripture -
"Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil." (Ephesians 6:11)

This Week's Prayer -

"Lord, I believe in You. You are real. You are good and righteous. I also believe in Satan. He is real. Spiritual warfare is real. Please make me ever cognizant of the times when battle is raging around me in the spiritual realm. I desire to put on the whole of Your armor every day to stand against the schemes of Satan and his minions. So help me, God, in spiritual warfare. Amen."

Prayer Intercessors Needed for DMCS Staff

We have a great opportunity in front of us to pray for our administrative staff and teachers. Over and over again, the Apostle Paul encouraged the Church to pray for one another.  He had first-hand experience knowing that, when we pray for each other, Jesus' love and grace will cover us, grow in us, and work through us.  Let's pour out our love to DMC teachers and staff through prayers for them.  We still need prayer intercessors for Elementary and Administrative staff.  Will you please say "YES!" to this indescribable blessing?  Right now, e-mail Mary Maltby, coordinator of this prayer covering.  Your task is simple.  Select a teacher/staff person or ask for one to be assigned to you.  Ask the Holy Spirit to prompt you often to pray for this person with prayers of praise, petitions, and thanks.  Connect with your prayer partner immediately through e-mail, but also periodically meet with him/her face-to-face, and pray over the person in his/her room or office.  Make yourself regularly available for prayer cover.  Let's come alongside, support, and love the people of God at Des Moines Christian School. Thank you! Important note:  Praise our faithful Lord! He is raising up the next generation to intercede.  Our Secondary staff/teachers are covered by 33 secondary students who are willingly committing to pray at this moment.  Acclaim Jesus!

Association Meeting Remarks

Association Members in attendance at the fall meeting graciously allowed me (Dr. Bob) to share ideas which God has laid on my heart, regarding God's vision for Des Moines Christian.  If you would like to read the outline of my comments at the meeting on Monday, September 24, 2012, please click here.

Building & Grounds Information

F.Y.I. On Wednesday night after school, DMC completed our first tick treatment of the year at the school.  We treated the whole playground and the north side of our building from playground to dumpster.  This is a two-part treatment system, and we will do the next treatment during the week of October 8th.  It is a very expensive treatment, but we thought that putting up the "guard" along the north edge of our building, and doing the playground wood chip area, would be for the best.  Students, staff, and visitors will be able to safely enter the playground and other heavily-traveled areas.  We've done this in previous years, and we believe the treatments help with the wellness and safety of everyone on our campus.

The speaker forgot about the start of Elementary Chapel time on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, so Mrs. Hoogerwerf, Mrs. Lowe, and Mrs. Hepworth did an excellent job of following God's direction with the chapel period.  If you would like to read my summary of the Elementary Chapel activities on this date, "U.S.A!  U.S.A.!  U.S.A.!" please click here.

Gary Lydic pinch-hit for Dr. Gary Rosberg as the speaker at CrossTrainers on Wednesday, September 26, 2012.  If you would like to read my summary of Mr. Lydic's message, "Why Do My Prayers Go Unanswered?" please click here.
