Theme of the 2011-2012 School Year:

TRUST IN THE LORD!

Memory Scripture for the 2011-2012 School Year:

Proverbs 3

Key Verses for 2011-2012:

"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."  (Proverbs 3:5-6, English Standard Version)

Verses for the Week:

"1My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments, 2for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you.  3Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. 4So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man. 5Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. 7Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD, and turn away from evil. 8It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones 9Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce 10then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine. 11My son, do not despise the LORD's discipline or be weary of his reproof 12for the LORD reproves him whom he loves, as a father the son in whom he delights. 13Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, 14for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold. 15She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her. 16Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand areriches and honor. 17 [Wisdom's] ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. 18[Wisdom] isa tree of life to those who lay hold of her; those who hold her fast are called blessed. 19 The LORD by wisdom founded the earth; by understanding he established the heavens; 20by [God's] knowledge the deeps broke open, and the clouds drop down the dew. 21 My son, do not lose sight of these -- keep sound wisdom and discretion. . . .22.[sound wisdom and discretion] will be life for you, an ornament to grace your neck (Proverbs 3:1-22, English Standard Version)

This Week's Opening Quote -

"Patience is the companion of wisdom."  (St. Augustine)

This Week's Scripture -

". . .[sound wisdom and discretion] will be life for you, an ornament to grace your neck." (Proverbs 3:22, English Standard Version)

This Week's Prayer -

"Lord, I submit my mind to You right now.  Help me to think with a wisdom which can only be explained by Your intervention.  Lord, give me patience as I participate wholly in the processes of sanctification.  Lord, I pray that I will be characterized by a godly wisdom which is adorned like an ornament around my neck.  So help me, Lord.  Amen."

Don't be left out in the cold!  Visit our DMCS Scholastic Book Fair!  This year's theme is "It's a Reading Celebration!" with an Hawaiian flavor.  The book fair will be held on Tuesday, February 7th, 1:30-4:30 p.m. and 5:30-8:00 p.m.; Wednesday, February 8th, 1:30-4:00 p.m.; and Thursday, February 9th, 1:30-4:30 p.m. and 5:30-8:00 p.m. in our Elementary Library.  All proceeds from our fair will go towards buying more books for our library.  Students will have a chance to preview the book fair on Monday, February 6th, and will be bringing home a "wish list."  Teachers will be filling out a list of books they would like for their classroom libraries, so please consider buying a book for your child's classroom. Scholastic books are fairly inexpensive and tax-free - don't miss this tremendous opportunity!

February 3rd is "Fun in the Sun, Dress Like a Hawaiian Day"! In light of our Hawaiian book fair theme, the Elementary students and staff are encouraged to "dress like an Hawaiian" on Friday, February 3rd.  Wear a loud and colorful shirt, a funny hat, and a lei!  Let's think tropical in the middle of winter!

In February, The Great Relationship Experience will be highlighting the Character Key of Perseverance. During the month, be sure to encourage your students to embrace a "can-do" attitude and remind them that God can do mighty things through a willing heart, just like He did through Nehemiah!
