Editing and Periodic Writing by Dr. Bob Stouffer, Superintendent Development by Marilyn Wilson and Published by Lisa Fitzgerald
Theme of the 2011-2012 School Year:
TRUST IN THE LORD!
Memory Scripture for the 2011-2012 School Year:
Proverbs 3
Key Verses for 2011-2012:
"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths." (Proverbs 3:5-6, English Standard Version)
Verses for the Week:
"1My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments, 2for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you. 3Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. 4So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man. 5Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. 7Be not wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD, and turn away from evil. 8It will be healing to your flesh and refreshment to your bones 9Honor the LORD with your wealth and with the firstfruits of all your produce 10then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will be bursting with wine. 11My son, do not despise the LORD's discipline or be weary of his reproof 12for the LORD reproves him whom he loves, as a father the son in whom he delights. 13Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, 14for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold. 15She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her. 16Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand areriches and honor. 17 [Wisdom's] ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. 18[Wisdom] isa tree of life to those who lay hold of her; those who hold her fast are called blessed. 19 The LORD by wisdom founded the earth; by understanding he established the heavens; 20by [God's] knowledge the deeps broke open, and the clouds drop down the dew. 21 My son, do not lose sight of these -- keep sound wisdom and discretion. . . ." (Proverbs 3:1-21, English Standard Version)

This Week's Opening Quote -
"A good head and a good heart are always a formidable combination." (Nelson Mandela)
This Week's Scripture -
"My son, do not lose sight of these -- keep sound wisdom and discretion. . . ." (Proverbs 3:21, English Standard Version)
This Week's Prayer -
"Father in heaven, hallowed be Thy name and Thy mind. My mind and heart are depraved. Sin damages my clear thinking and discernment. Lord, please give me sound wisdom and discretion in spite of my sin and self-deception. Please conform my mind to the mind of Christ. In His name, I pray. Amen." |

Check out a FANTASTIC poem written by one of our fifth graders!
"Winter" By Amanda Mona, DMCS Class of 2019
Winter. The twinkling ice crystals flutter to the hard earth. It becomes pearly and white, as if a flock of delicate butterflies had covered the city. Silence overcomes all sounds. The crisp, pure, gorgeous drifts resemble sand dunes under a gray atmosphere. Dusty balls of cotton candy roll across the sky slowly, quietly. As they tip-toe away, the golden ball of light descends, its rays kissing the glistening hills of white. The moon rises. Luminous stars fill the sky. Green grass peaks through its icy grave. The presence of winter is in the past. It has passed, and spring has only just begun. |
