Daily Walk 5.21.10:
God Already Knows What is Going to Happen, Part 4
The Appointed Time: Your Turn Is Coming
If you have a friend who could use a word of encouragement today, please forward this Daily Walk to them. We currently have around 500 individuals on our mailing list. We'd like for that number to grow to 1000. Help us get there by clicking the forward tab at the bottom of this Devotional and sending it to a friend.

The Appointed Time: Your Turn Is Coming
The other day I read an article by Comedian Carol Burnett (Who rumor has it may be hosting SNL soon) in which Carol spoke of her illustrative career. She mentioned a phrase that caught my attention. She said that she did not get jealous when someone else got a role that she tried out for. She went on to say that when someone else was picked she would simply tell herself, "It's not my turn."
What a great perspective for all of us. Well, Saul is still looking for his donkeys. Let's check in and see how the search is going. In the last episode, the teens told S and S (Saul and Servant) that Sam the prophet was just ahead of them. The next few verses tell us the rest of the story.
While S and S are searching for Sam, God was speaking to the prophet. The day before the entry of the duo, God told Sam they were coming. Sam prepared a special meal for them, invited 30 guests, and was eagerly awaiting their arrival.
When S and S step into town, Saul actually walks up to Sam and says, "Please tell me where the seer's house is." Sam says, "I am the seer." (1 Samuel 9:18 - 19) Saul was clueless that he was actually talking with "The Guy."
As the story goes, Sam tells Saul, look it, don't sweat about the donkeys; they are found. Let's eat. Then there is a statement that just might bring hope to your heart. As they sit down to dine, Sam says to Saul,
"Here is what has been reserved! Set it before you and eat, because it has been kept for you until the appointed time..." (1 Samuel 9:24)
We each have hopes and dreams as we walk through the daily grind of life. We are looking for our lost keys, glasses, marbles or donkeys, when suddenly, God shows up and reveals something deeper than the immediacy of our latest emergency. He whispers, "It is the appointed time: It Is Your Turn."

Testimony

Doug and Joan,
Id like you to know, if you do not already how much you have impacted my life. Since our days together in MB and after Donatellils (A Restaurant Nikki and her husband Scott owned which closed) :( so sad). I have trusted in God and His love because of you. Though knowing that God had his plan for me and knew I was coming, I'm forever drawn to you and your family for pushing me to respond to the knock on my door. I feel guilty and ashamed that I've fallen into a pattern of laziness and habit with Him but your notes, emails and updates fuel me and keep reminding me to listen to the knock. So thank you for staying in my life even if by email and facebook (sorry Doug but I esp miss you Joan and our tea time; and summer pool fun). You guys inspire me. That's all we need sometimes is just an extra nudge to remember we are not alone.
All my love, Nikki Donatelli
Background Joan and I met Scott and Nikki through church. One day I was headed home for lunch and Joan was still leading a women's small group at the house and the walls began to feel a bit cramped for me, so I did something I rarely do. I went to lunch alone. I chose Donatellils. Scott was there and came over to the table and asked to sit with me for a moment. As we talked he said, "Doug, I want the feeling I get on Sunday to last the rest of the week. I shared the gospel with him then and there. When I asked if he was ready to pray to yield his life to Jesus Christ, he said, "Here." I said, "Yes." He said, "No." I was a bit shocked because I really sensed God was working and Scott was ready. Then Scott said, "No, because I want you and Joan to come to my house tonight and I want Nikki to hear this and I want us to make that decision together as a family." That night, Joan and I showed up at their apartment. The four of us sat in their living room as they prayed giving their lives to Jesus Christ. God is good. Who do you need to share Christ with this weekend?
