Daily Walk 5.18.10:

God Already Knows What is Going to Happen, Part 2

Perhaps, We Should...

We currently have around 500 individuals on our mailing list.  We'd like for that number to grow to 1000.  Help us get there by forwarding this Devotional to a friend.

Perhaps, We Should...

A few years ago I attended a Leadership Summit and heard Bill Hybels eloquently articulate the uncertainty of decision making.  He expressed the I don't know element that I have experienced in the pit of my stomach repeatedly.

Hybels referenced times when he encountered problems that desperately needed solutions that he did not have.  At those times, flipping a coin would have produced equal certainty.  Should I go to the left or to the right?  Heads.  Should I buy this or do that?  Tails.  What job do I take?  Life is filled with many daily decisions that are more often than not simply not clear.  They are like flipping a quarter.

I've watched friends who have been paralyzed by indecision in such circumstances; fearful that they would make the wrong choice, they wait.  In the waiting, they frequently make the wrong decision...indecision.

Henry Cloud and John Townsend have an excellent book entitled 9 Things You Simply Must Do in which they advise in such moments, Pull the tooth.  Until a direction is chosen, pain, confusion, and toothache results.

Yesterday, we examined a glimpse of Saul's dilemma.  He lost his donkeys and did not know where to find them.  Thankfully, he had a servant who had some horse sense.  Let's peek in...

1 Samuel 9:6
"He the servant said to him, 'Behold now, there is a man of God in this city, and the man is held in honor; all that he says surely comes true.  Now let us go there, perhaps he can tell us about our journey on which we have set out.'"

Basically, he is saying, "Um, Saul, hey, perhaps we should ask this guy named Samuel if God knows where we can find our donkeys."  Finally, a voice of reason.  The servant has what all great leaders have, perspective.  And this guys has a perspective that maybe we should consult with the Godly about our life circumstances and get input from someone who just might know.  We need people who can help us hear the voice of God; although ultimately, we must learn to hear His voice our selves.

And yet, the servant's suggestion and nudge was simply a perhaps.

What are you struggling with today?  Right or left?  Up or down?  Give up?  Go home?  Make a change?  Press on?  What if?  Perhaps...

Ask God what your perhaps is today, then go do it.

Perhaps,

Giving

We have seen tremendous progress on our 30K goal.  We are just $3K short of the goal.  We have 12 days to reach this milestone.  This will bring us current on all of our expenses, and enable us to resume planning for future missions trips, conferences, salaries, and discipling opportunities.  We thank you for helping us stretch upward as we seek to honor God by stewarding His resources well.

Like PBS, Your Next Step is supported by viewers like you. Jeff Cole our Executive Director, Joan Dorman our Prayer Instructor and Counselor, and Doug Dorman our President, each raise their own support. If you would like for your donation to be used for one of these individuals, you need to designate your gift by writing the name and or code of the missionary staff you wish to support. The codes for each missionary staff are: Jeff Cole 4330, Joan Dorman 6728, or Doug Dorman 4808. Undesignated giving helps with operational costs.

If you would like to help us finish the "90-Day Capital Campaign" or support any of the above missionary staff, send your donation to:
