At this year's annual luncheon, we were privileged to honor St. Anthony on the Desert Episcopal Church and realized another profound contribution to A New Leaf.
Reverend Dorian Mulvey presented a check for $3,500 to implement an innovative and exciting new project at our EVMC men's shelter...a bike repair shop that will be staffed by capable residents who they will also train.
Bikes are an essential means of transportation for the majority of residents at EVMC. This wonderful program will ensure that the men have good, functioning bikes and repair skills that will follow them as they complete the program. This can be very empowering for them.
We meet some amazing volunteer groups and individuals at EVMC. Imagine, 365 days a year, we have groups come to prepare and serve dinner for up to 94 men. St. Anthony on the Desert Episcopal Church is one of those faithful groups. Not only do they serve meals, but their passion to serve has them searching for ways to help the residents in additional A New Leaf programs. They are transforming lives.
