Why Does Linda Haskell, of Mesa United Way, Volunteer at A New Leaf?
"A New Leaf lives up to their stellar reputation of staying
true to their mission of
Helping Families...Changing Lives! I consider it a joy
As many of you know, we have been exploring Permanent Supportive Housing for former homeless individuals and families this past year. This is truly exciting!
Through a neighborhood stabilization grant from Phoenix, with City of Mesa money and dollars committed by A New Leaf Board of Directors, this new apartment acquisition and rehab project will provide low-cost housing in Mesa.
We hope to complete the project and begin housing our first clients by December 2012. Stay tuned for updates. Amazing things happen when we work together to make a difference!
"A New Leaf Faith House has saved me in a way that I thought was never possible. I have been given a chance to reconnect with my authentic self. It's a safe environment that allows me to be open with people who struggle with the same issues.
It's the first family environment my son and I have been in, in a long time.
Thank you to the supporters of Faith House for helping me regain a sense of belonging for me and my son."
Ryan, Youth Shelter Program
"I have struggled all my life with my anger and not being able to make friends with kids my own age. Since I have been at A New Leaf, I am learning how to control my own behavior and anger and have made several new friends that I can talk to when I am feeling sad or angry and they understand."
Ryan's Mother
"No matter how hard I tried I just could not help my son change his behavior and control his anger. Now he can self-regulate and control his own anger and he is finally starting to make connections with children his own age."
A New Leaf Foundation exists to provide financial support to A New Leaf programs and services. The Foundation relies on your generous tax-deductible contributions and over 17,000 volunteer hours annually.
