Chrissy remembers living in a truck and living at A New Leaf's LaMesita Family Homeless Shelter. That was fourteen years ago.

Imagine her experience...what it must have been like living in a truck in the Arizona heat, sorting through rubbish to find food while her mom nursed her baby brother and going to sleep with the previous days sweat dried on her skin. It's not pleasant to think about, can you imagine living it.

Through the years, Chrissy has stopped back to visit A New Leaf staff to update us on her progress. While it may seem sad that someone's precious memories and connections involve time spent in a homeless shelter, it's enormously inspiring to know that her experience with A New Leaf has helped Chrissy to develop healthier, postive growth through her teen years.

In one of her recent visits, Chirssy shared that she is now a straight A student with aspirations and the tenancity to complete her education with a college degree.

Chrissy's artwork still hangs in some of our offices to remind us of this little girl who touched everyone's heart and of the thousands of other children whose lives A New Leaf is able to touch because of YOUR generosity to A New Leaf.
