I'm pleased to announce a "New Donation Acceptance Policy" in the interest of providing more dedicated time, resources and support to our clients and programs.
Effective immediately, we only accept NEW donations. Used items can be dropped off at one of
several agency/thrift stores that support our clients/programs (see at close of this message).
This may be a challenging concept for many of our dedicated donors who have been quick to respond to our client's needs by donating their used clothing and treausres.
Below are some positive results we anticipate from this change in policy:
·Client Support: Focusing on new donations involves less time and better quality items. Staff will be better able to support clients and goals. There will be less traffic and interruption within our programs.
·Space & Safety: Programs will have the necessary storage space to store necessary, new donated items vs.used items which may be less practical during times of need. Used donation "pile-up" has presented safety hazards.
·Life Skills Education: Client's decision making skills and resourcefulness will be improved by learning to shop at a variety of discount/thrift stores (some with vouchers/discounts).
