NOTABLE NEWS...
A huge thank you goes to the Eagle Scouts, our "leaders of tomorrow."
Their labors have provided us with non-perishable food and hygiene drives for our shelters, picnic tables for our programs, landscaping enhancements on our properties and faith in the values our younger generations hold!

| Greetings! |
Alex, Sara & Torrie Taj | What does "Mobile Donating"* have to do with a turkey?
I'm so glad you asked. A New Leaf won't be left behind in the evolution of the most proficient tools for supporting the homeless children, families and individuals in our shelters.
Last month we kicked off our 2010 Bowl-a-thon Fundraiser (where my son got a turkey on his first three frames) and implemented our pilot text messaging tool.
"Text or Mobile Message Donating"** is the newest form of simple, effective fund raising. When you text the word
L E A F, your name and your email address to phone #20222, whalah...you donate $10.00 and a child goes to bed with a full tummy. It's so easy and can be done at anytime, day or night, up to 5 times in each monthly cellular phone billing cycle.
In this economy, we strive to find better ways to reach out to new people and to use innovative tools to help better serve others in need. Thank you for helping us!
Torrie A. Taj, CFRE
Exec. V.P. of Marketing & Resource Development
*Text message donations received through the month of June will be added to our Bowl-a-thon proceeds to support Summer Youth Activities. |
| Family Escapes the Heat! |
"Thank you from the bottom of our hearts" |
With summer approaching, Johnny was more fearful of the effects of the heat than the lack of food supply for his young family. "I knew I could find some food pantries or churches that would help us but when we got our eviction notice, I had visions of my kids suffering from dehydration and heat exhaustion," he explained.
"I lost my job and barely made enough to pay for my auto loan, diapers and other necessities. My wife was terrified over the thought that we would end up living in our van. My greatest fear was that she would be right and that I wouldn't be able to keep my family safe. I thank God that I found A New Leaf. I don't know what would have happened to us if you hadn't helped us get back on our feet.Thank you from the bottom of our hearts." |

| The American Way of Life |
Helping others in need is such an important part of the American way of life that many high schools require their students to spend a certain number of hours volunteering in order to graduate.
From President Obama to the Boeing Corporation down to your next door neighbor, people are learning the significant impact volutneering has not only on others, but on ourselves.
Volunteering gives you an opportunity to change lives, including your own. If you're feeling frustrated or overwhelmed by current situations...
