Rachel's Challenge

Hello community partners of Obion County, I'm excited to announce that we are trying to bring Rachel's Challenge to Obion County on Tuesday November 6th and Wednesday 7th, 2012. We are looking for people to partner with us to help split the cost of $6100. They will be doing presentations at Union City Schools and Obion County Schools as well as a huge community event at Second Baptist Church. If you know of anyone that would or could be willing to help with the cost please let me know.

Rachel Scott was one of the students killed in the Columbine shooting and her parents go around the world with a message called, "My Ethics, My Codes of Life." It will move adults to tears and something our community needs to hear. We have bullying issues going on in our schools as well as in our community. Please join with Obion County Coordinated School Health, Union City Coordinated School Health, Baptist Hospital and CBK to help bring Rachel's Challenge to our community.

Help Us Save Tennessee Jobs

Equitable Workers' Compensation System = Economic Development = Jobs

In cooperation with The National Federation of Independent Business, the Chattanooga Regional Manufacturer's Association, local Chambers of Commerce and other business groups, the Tennessee Chamber of Commerce & Industry is hosting a series of meetings to discuss next steps in Workers Comp reform. Members of the Tennessee Chamber Human Resources (HR) Committee will present the need for change based on months of research. This will include Workers Compensation cost comparisons between Tennessee and neighboring states. The HR committee reps will also present the Chamber's position on how to improve the basic law and its administration.

We will be asking attendees who are willing to add the names of their employers to our coalition for reform and to actively lobby the 2013 General Assembly for passage of a bill that will restore equity and fairness to the system as was envisioned by General Assembly in 1918.

Although there is no fee to attend these meetings, we request that you register. Feel free to attend any meeting that fits with your schedule and to invite others who may not receive this message.
