August Business Matters

business matters-augustAugust Business Matters was sponsored by Ameriprise Financial and the guest speaker was Randy Thetford from Ameriprise Financial. Topicsincluded the different types of retirement plans available to small businesses and the situations that they may apply and also how retirement plan sponsorship benefits the business, the owner and the employees.

For many employees, a primary driver for saving is the ability to save through a plan sponsored by an employer. According to the Investment Company Institute (Retirement Saving in Wake of Financial Market Volatility, December 2008), among households that have a defined contribution plan, 88% say that payroll deduction makes it easier to save. And 43% agree with the statement, "I probably wouldn't save for retirement if I didn't have a retirement plan at work."However, the majority of employees working for small businesses don't have this opportunity. There is a real need for employers to provide an opportunity for their workers to save.

Northwest TN Disaster Services

NTDS will be organizing volunteers to be sent to Baton Rouge, LA this week with comfort kits for disaster victims.

The comfort kits contain basic necessities like soap, shampoo, toothpaste, wash rags, mini first aid kits, razors, shaving cream, deodorant...etc.

NTDS will also send blankets and water.

NTDS is preparing for possible severe weather here in Northwest Tennessee, since even tropical storm remnants can produce tornadoes and localized flooding.

If the community would like to donate to our Hurricane Isaac Relief Fund, you can visit our website at:togetherforall.org for easy online donation methods. Your donation is 100% tax deductible.

Here is a list of approved supplies that may be collected by the community also:
