The Tennessee
Department of Economic and Community Development announced today it
will open the second annual, 'What Makes You an Entrepreneur' video
competition to entries. Interested parties may apply online at the
Tennessee Open for Business website: http://tnopenforbusiness.org/.
"Last year, Tennessee made its mark as one of the top participating
states for Global Entrepreneurship Week," said Matt Kisber,
commissioner, Tennessee Department of Economic and Community
Development. "With the second installment of the entrepreneurship video
competition, we hope to continue our custom of recognizing
entrepreneurs, who are the backbone of our state's economy."
The 'What Makes You an Entrepreneur?' video competition is a
component of the state's Global Entrepreneurship Week celebration.
Global Entrepreneurship Week 2010 will be held November 15 - 21 and is
a worldwide event intended to inspire, connect, mentor and engage young
people with the desire to change the world.
Entries will be accepted through Oct. 31. Finalists will be selected
from five business categories: Main Street/downtown; home-based;
agri-business; arts and entertainment; and innovation. Videos should be
no longer than five minutes, and the overall state winner will be
announced during Global Entrepreneurship Week. Complete contest details

The overall statewide contest winner will receive a $500 cash prize
and a marketing package valued at approximately $2,000. Other category
winners will receive statewide recognition and an award presented
