Greetings! |
As Spring blooms forth, we are so thankful to all those who supported and participated in our recent and very successful
fundraising events.
The CCHH team is working hard to prepare all the components needed for our Certificate of Need application and we'd love your help.
We need your letter of support for our Certificate of Need. Please email us at info@crystalcoasthospicehouse.org and we will get a sample letter to you. With your support, we will show the State how our whole community recognizes our urgent need for a hospice home.
We are encouraged by the support from more and more amazing people and organizations and we are so grateful for all that is being done to open the doors to the Crystal Coast Hospice House.
My sincerest thanks to everyone!!

First United Methodist Church commits to AMAZING support! |
Article submitted by Jo West of First United Methodist Church
Morehead City, NC
The First United Methodist Church is pleased to announce that we have reserved the Naming Rights to the Pulpit in the Chapel of the Crystal Coast Hospice House. Through the generosity of the First Church members and friends we have raised the $10,000 needed for this naming opportunity in less than one year. What an awesome statement this makes for our church.
The FUMC Team originally set a goal for our church to achieve the "sole" naming right to the Chapel in the new Hospice House; however, we have been called to invite all United Methodist Churches in Carteret County to participate in raising the $75,000 needed for this opportunity. The FUMC Team will lead and coordinate this effort, meeting with the other 23 Methodist churches in our county and helping them in any way we can to be a part of this meaningful gift to our community. The Chapel will be named for the "United Methodist Churches of Carteret County".
SPRING FUNDRAISERS SPONSORED BY FUMC
Our 2nd Annual CCHH Dinner held on March 16th at the church was a tremendous success, netting $3745.00 in donations to the Crystal Coast Hospice House! The entire meal was prepared by one of our members, who also donated all of the "groceries".
The FUMC congregation came out for a delicious home-cooked luncheon, prepared by another church member with help from friends, following the 11:00am Worship Service on Palm Sunday, April 17th. This meal included ham, fried chicken, a green vegetable, potato salad, deviled eggs, homemade rolls and desserts. The Palm Sunday Luncheon netted $3,175!

Did you know... |
Our hospice home will serve patients of all ages, but on average 80% of the patients will be 65 years or older. That age group is projected to grow by more than 22% in the next 4 years and make up more than 25% of residents on the Crystal Coast. |

Special support from a special teenager! |
On April 9th, local high school student, Kelly Mansfield, a senior at West Carteret High School, hosted a ladies tea and golf outing at the Country Club of the Crystal Coast in Pine Knoll Shores to benefit CCHH. Kelly, the two time 3A Coastal Conference Player of the Year and recent WITN Athlete of the Week, explains the purpose of her event, "In selecting my senior project, I knew I wanted my project to include golf in some way, since it has been a rewarding part of the past 4 years of my life. I also wanted my project to benefit my community, a way to give back and at the same time be an inspiration me. After personally experiencing the benefits offered to my family by Cape Fear Hospice House, I realized the necessity here in our own community for those in need of end of life care that are unable to remain at home. Once I decided my direction, I contacted the Crystal Coast Hospice House board to share my thoughts and ideas about doing this fund raiser as my senior project."
We'd like to thank Kelly and the Country Club of the Crystal Coast for hosting this event. |
Wild Game & Wine Pairing Dinner |
2nd Annual Wild Game & Wine Pairing Dinner
February 28th

About 100 diners enjoyed an incredible night at the Bistro By The Sea in Morehead City where once again Libby Eaton and Master Chef Tim Coyne treated guests to an evening of finely prepared venison, pheasant, elk, wild boar, duck and quail donated by local huntsmen Mack Backer, Craig Conrad, Chuck Lindner, Jet Matthews and Curtis Strange.
The fabulous night of food and wine was topped off with the presentation of the Big Rock Blue Marlin Tournament's very generous donation of $200,000. We thank the Bistro By The Sea and Empire Distributors for their generous sponsorship of this event. |

Meet Our Board of Directors |
Jane Britt, Secretary
Jane Britt was born in High Point, NC and attended school there. She started her career at High Point Bank and Trust and then, after marrying Dale Britt in 1982, worked in real estate for several years. She and Dale opened J Butler's Bar and Grille in High Point in 1987. Jane worked there until it was sold in 1996 to Charlie Erwin from the Ham's Restaurant franchise. In 1997, Jane began working with Price and Britt Property Management until it was sold in 2003 to Baldwin Property Management. Jane and Dale moved to Morehead after selling the property management company. Jane now keeps the books for a business that she and Dale own in Carteret County.
In addition to serving on the CCHH Board of Directors since its formation, Jane has served on the United Way Board in High Point, the Advisory Board of the Boys and Girls Club in Morehead City; and the Working Board of the Wahoo Challenge. She has also served as a hospice volunteer in Carteret County.
Jane has personal experience with the supportive environment of hospice homes and is dedicated to bringing this beneficial and urgently needed healthcare service to the Crystal Coast.
