Blessings for the New Year
Holiday greetings from the Holy Land! We hope each of you had a wonderful Christmas as we celebrated the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Rani and I celebrated in the city of Jerusalem, where I sang in 3 productions of Handel's Messiah in the Hebrew language. It was an amazing experience to proclaim the story of Jesus Christ through song. The Messiah covers the entire life of Christ, from the words of the prophet Isaiah foretelling His arrival all the way through His birth, death and resurrection.
Following the life of Christ through the glorious, inspired music of Handel was indescribable. Many of us know the familiar songs 'And the Glory,' 'For Unto Us a Child is Born' and the triumphant 'Hallelujah' chorus. When they are sung together with the entire work, it produces some truly breathtaking moments. The opportunity to sing the words of 'Surely He Hath Borne Our Griefs' and 'By His Stripes We are Healed' was such a wonderful way to celebrate Christmas. Our continued prayer is that God used His words through music to touch the hearts of all who heard.
