ChairmansLetterChairmans Letter to the Membership

Michael ToblerDear Members,

The Board of Directors (BOD) hopes everyone is enjoying their summer even with the unusually high temperatures and the drought that is plaguing our western states. The wildfire season can not be far behind. We are fortunate to serve firefighter members that go into harms way to protect our communities. As we look forward to the cooler days of fall I hope the Long Beach convention is circled on your calendar as the place to be in October. We know that Bill and Linda have put together another exciting and rewarding convention for us. Linda says she still has some rooms available so please reach out to a fellow firefighter credit union and invite them to participate in this great event. We have been anxiously watching the registrations increase hoping to see new faces but also the familiar ones that we enjoy seeing each year.

Last year in New Orleans was the inaugural meeting of NCOFCU, where we established our coalition and elected the first Board. The first year has been a productive time for the BOD and we are looking forward to sharing our work with the membership at our annual meeting. We have been holding monthly directors' meetings and working hard to develop an organization that will achieve our stated goals. There are two main issues that we will be discussing at the annual meeting in Long Beach. First, we have explored ways to provide funding for our new organization. One of the funding sources for any organization is the dues structure and we will present and discuss several options. Second, we are working towards the goal of coordinating our own annual convention. To achieve this goal, we are partnering with the Boston FCU to produce and host the 2013 convention in Boston, MA.

There are nine directors on the BOD serving a three-year term. The terms are staggered and therefore every year we will elect three directors to the Board. We have a nominating committee that will present the slate of candidates at the annual meeting. We ask that you participate in these elections and nominate someone if they are interested in a position. Please use our new and improved web site at www.ncofcu.org to complete your candidate nomination

There are many new features on the website www.ncofcu.org that are designed to enhance our ability to share information and help each other. One particular area that we ask you to review lists the vendors that support our coalition. These vendors help reduce our conference registration fees and provide great service, please try to incorporate them into your credit union's business plan. If you have a vendor that might be interested in our convention, please send their information to Grant.

We invite your comments and questions. You can reach out to the BOD through the website, or please feel free to call or email any director.

Respectfully,

Michael R Tobler Chairman
National Coalition of Firefighter's Credit Unions Inc.
