The board has also been busy developing a new working relationship with our convention promoters Bill, Rick and Linda. We have a lot of work before our Long Beach CA, convention in October 2012. As you can imagine the back ground work to develop a successful convention takes a tremendous amount of time and commitment. We look forward to the challenges and hope this will be another convention to welcome new members and sponsors.

         The success of our coalition comes from the brotherhood of firefighters that need to share with one another and the camaraderie that no other organization can claim. As chairman of the board I know firsthand how powerful the brotherhood of firefighters is having served 36 years with the Albany NY Fire Department. We need to promote our common bond to bring together success in the credit union movement.

         Success of this coalition will be measured in many ways; I would like one measure to be that we develop membership with all firefighter credit unions across this country. This task although daunting can happen if for no other reason than firefighters wanting to be involved with one another.

         This board well represents the entire country with members from each coast and asset size of credit unions. I am impressed with the knowledge and commitment of our board; we are ourselves board members of our credit unions or the CEO. Grant Sheehan the CEO of the coalition has been the source of information and technology that will make us successful. His understanding and commitment to our success is beyond reproach.

         I will be sending out notices periodically to keep everyone informed and perhaps reach out for your help.

The National Coalition of Firefighter Credit Unions was formed for the purpose of promoting unity, cooperation, support and collaboration among firefighter credit unions. The coalition is committed to serving its members and increasing its field of membership to include all firefighter credit unions in the United States & other countries. We are committed to building an adequate capital base that will support the financial strength needed to provide valuable services to our members. We will offer services that support the safety, soundness, and innovation among firefighter credit unions in order to promote and enhance the founding principles of the credit union movement.
