Since 1935, Los Angeles Firemen's Credit Union (LAFCU) has supported the financial needs of firefighters and their families. To encompass the Fire Family philosophy of helping others, LAFCU established the Fire Family Foundation, a non-profit 501 (c) (3) charitable organization for the benefit of firefighters and their families within the State of California. The mission and purpose is to:
- Provide financial assistance to firefighters, their families, and to those charities that support the fire community
- Provide financial assistance to fire victims
- Promote educational support to firefighters
- Provide financial assistance to fire departments
By operating solely on donated time from volunteers, 100% of the donations are passed down to the beneficiaries.
