NOVEMBER IS NATIONAL YOUTH HOMELESSNESS AWARENESS MONTH YouthHomelessnessMonth

It's estimated that within the course of a year, over 1 million children and youth will experience homelessness.  These youth face varying dangers and obstacles like physical, sexual and psychological abuse and neglect or less support and ability to remain in school than the housed peers.

Throughout the month of November, Stepping Stones will be engaging in various social media endeavors.  If you follow us on Like us on Facebook or Follow us on Twitter, we will present research about this population from wonderful advocacy groups like the National Alliance to End Homelessness or the National Association for the Education of Homeless Children and Youth.

Additionally, we'll tell stories about the lives of our own youth*, the work that our staff and board are engaged in, and why your support is so essential and appreciated.

GET INVOLVED!Involved
There are numerous ways in which you can lend a hand and affect the lives of youth experiencing homelessness in our community.  And when you do, you help to:
  • How to remain and graduate from high school
  • How to gain and maintain employment
  • How to manage their finances
We have various opportunities, needs and suggestions for you to help partner with us:
  1. You can make a financial contribution to our organization!  Your financial support makes it possible for the needs of youth to be served.  You have made it possible for us to serve these youth by providing more housing opportunities for youth, more outreach services, and added depth to current services we offer.  You can visit our Paypal account and make a contribution today or send a check or cash to our PO Box.    BLANK  text blank text blank textTEXT
  2. You can give the gift of an item!  Our new residents need items like shampoo, deodorant, and other sanitary items and our office needs supplies like pen and paper.  You can visit our "Wish List" by visiting the following link: http://www.steppingstones-inc.org/Wishlist.html BLANK TEXt blanktextblanktext
  3. Spread the word about us to your friends and family! You can Forward this email by clicking on the "Forward this to a friend!" link near the bottom of the page.  Or are you on Social Media like Twitter, Facebook or LinkedIn?  If you're on Facebook and are a "fan" of us, a simple @Stepping Stones, Inc. in your message will tag us and direct people to our page.  Or, on Twitter, a simple "Mention" of @Stepping_Stones will direct folks to our feed. 4. Come to our events or host your own!  Throughout the year, Stepping Stones participates in many collaborative fundraising efforts like "Homeward Bound" and "Are They Smarter than a 5th Grader?"  Many members in our community have gotten really creative when it comes to finding ways to support us.  Having Mustache Competitions during Movember (Mustache + November = Movember), hosting small benefit concerts, or asking the employer or a business they frequent to support us in some way.
Your support is essential and is what makes it all possible!
