Greetings!
Thanks to support from people like you, 2010 was a year of growth.
- We added 1 bed to each of our apartments to house more youth. The Community Foundation and Jack Hopkins Social Services fund helped us acquire new beds, dressers and other apartment furnishings to make that possible;
- Bound & McPike generously donated the materials and labor to re-carpet 3 of our apartments and volunteers helped paint and renovate them;
- and we welcomed Lauren Hall to our staff as an Independent Living Coach to work with these new youth.
With all of that momentum, we're moving excitedly into the new year and we'd love for you to be a part of them! Be sure to check our monthly e-newsletters for the latest updates.

Bleeding Heartland Roller Girls
| We're excited to announce a new partnership with the Bleeding Heartland Roller Girls, Bloomington's own roller derby organization! Stepping Stones has been identified as this year's Roller Girls charity. With this comes: - Free tickets to the games for our residents and staff!
- Mutual marketing - we're going to work together to promote all the good things that both of our grassroots agencies are up to: games, fundraising events, and more!
- And at the end of the semester, BHRG donates a portion of their event proceeds to Stepping Stones!
They are participating in the B-Cup Challenge on Saturday, February 5th at the Twin Lakes Recreational Center. Doors open at 8am with the first challenge at 9am. Bouting will continue throughout the day with the "Main Event" doors opening at 5:30pm.
Day passes in advance are $20.00, at the door $25. "Main Event" passes $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Get your advance tickets at brownpapertickets.com today! Homeward Bound | |
The Homeward Bound Walk will be Sunday, April 10 at Third Street Park! Registration opens at 12pm (or register online).
Homeward is a 5k walk for Homelessness intervention and prevention. We partner with 10 different agencies to raise funds and awareness about the issues of homelessness.
It's also our biggest fundraiser of the year and there's a couple ways you can get involved. Just remember the "Five R's"
- Register - go online to homewardboundindiana.org/bloomington and register today!
- Reach Out - let other friends, family and coworkers know that you're helping to raise money for Stepping Stones and they can help, too.
- Recruit - Get those friends, family members and coworkers to join you. Registration is simple and, even if they are unable to attend the walk, they can help you collect donations.
- Rally - Get excited about the walk. It's a great time with food, music and lots of great Bloomington agencies who do great work. Be creative! Awards are given for the "Most Walkers," "Top Team Fundraiser," "Top Individual Fundraiser" and "Best Theme."
- Raise - We feel like this event is one of the most fun events we do all year and is one of the best ways for you to show your support of Stepping Stones and for our residents. Please, help us reach our goal of $9,000!

We'll give you more details as the event gets closer! Contact us if you have any questions!

In the past, Stepping Stones has recognized November as "National Youth Homelessness Awareness" month; however, this past November, the MBA Association in the Kelley School of Business introduced a new month to us: "Movember."
After a month of competition, this group raised over $1,300 for Stepping Stones.
Thanks to all of them for their creativity in finding ways to support our youth!
During the month of November, MBA students grew mustaches for Stepping Stones. They competed for the title of "Best," "Worst," and "Craziest" 'stache.
