Greetings Wonderful Newman Parents,

It's Tropical Day here at the Middle and High Schools! The weather seems to be a perfect fit, warm, muggy and plenty of sunshine! The Pep Club will be handing out popsicles later. I'm hoping there's a blue raspberry left over for me!

Things are getting very exciting on the international student front. I met with the leaders of Global Outreach yesterday and they promised us 2 Catholic students from Eastern Europe for next year. The host families are already signed up! I'm still looking for a couple more host families for our Cambridge students from China. I skype interviewed a really cool young man this morning. I've never laughed so much during a formal interview. He's got a great sense of humor. He'll be accepted as a junior and is hoping for a host family with a few brothers and sisters. Also keep in mind that Cambridge is unique in offering a $5,000.00 stipend to the host family per guest student. Believe it or not I had a family at my previous school that took on two students! The parents have since told me that hosting the Cambridge students is a fantastic experience. I hope you'll consider offering up a spot in your home as well and enjoying the rich rewards of hosting an international student. Your generosity will be a great experience for your family and enhance the cultural diversity and experience for our Newman family.

Please remember to talk to your High School son or daughter about using Varsity sport participation to offset the third semester requirement for P.E. As long as the student is taking an academic class instead of P.E. and has already finished up the first two semesters of P.E. Mr. Kelter will be able to make the switch.

The seventh and eighth graders are traveling to Wausau East on Wednesday to attend a lecture geared for Middle Schoolers on the struggles of life in Cambodia in the recent past. The teachers have been studying this topic in classes and have even used a book written by the woman who is presenting on Wednesday. Note that the schedule will be adjusted slightly to accommodate this insightful opportunity. That adjustment and much more is covered in the following link to the May 7 - May 20,  Week at a Glance.

On Sunday, May 20th at 6:00 PM, NCMS and NCHS will be hosting an Open House for prospective families to come tour the school, meet our staff, and learn more what NCS has to offer. Help spread the word to prospective families to come and join us.
