New Autism Research Reveals Brain Differences at 6 Months in Infants who Develop Autism
This study from the Infant Brain Imaging (IBIS) network, a nationally funded research network with four primary sites, including the Center for Autism Research at CHOP, suggests that autism does not appear suddenly in young children, but instead develops over time during infancy. Autism Not Diagnosed as Early in Minority Children (VIDEO)
Early diagnosis is considered key for treating autism, but minority children tend to be diagnosed as much as a year and a half later than white children, says David Mandell, ScD, Associate Director of the Center for Autism Research. David Mandell, ScDMothers of Kids with Autism Earn Less, Study Shows
A new study, published in April's issue of Pediatrics, shows that mothers of children with autism spectrum disorders earn significantly less than what mothers of children who have no health limitations earn. Study of Social Functioning and Genetics for 6 to 18 Year Olds   

**6 to 10 year olds especially needed!** 

 

 

This study will measure the impact of genetic risk factors for autism spectrum disorders on both brain development and behavioral functioning.

Children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) approaching adolescence have physical and social transition needs. Likewise, parents need support in developing a transition plan for their child. This workshop is for parents of an pre-adolescent child with ASD and will include presentations from experts in neuropsychology, behavior, education, medicine, and social work. There will be special appearances by Eagles players and cheerleaders, field and locker room tours, games, and more!
