CAR Team Profile

Judith MillerJudith Miller, PhD
Clinical Training Director

"Walking into the Center for Autism Research (CAR) can be a bit like entering a maze. Spacious hallways and open doors lead to relaxed assessment rooms, waiting areas, and offices. This design, best navigated with a knowing CAR team member by your side, mirrors CAR's multi-facetted purpose and houses pockets of teams working on various aspects of autism research.

CAR's clinic team, however, is easy to find; walk straight through the waiting room to find a kind, active, and engaged team of autism clinicians working on any number of research studies. Judith Miller, PhD, CAR's new Clinical Training Director, is among them." Read Full Article>>

CAR Facts + Figures -
We Have Grown!
CAR TeamThis month marks three years since The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia announced its hire of Robert Schultz, PhD as director of a new Center of Emphasis at the Hospital - the Center for Autism Research (CAR). By the summer of 2008, CAR opened its doors to its first research participant, a baby enrolled in the Infant Brain Imaging Study (IBIS).

Today, Schultz leads one of the largest and most experienced autism research teams in the world. CAR
brings together renowned scientists from multiple disciplines, a gold standard clinical team with 27 clinicians and trainees (and growing!), and other research professionals to make up the 100+ people that are CAR. Approximately 800 families have participated in studies at CAR to date; it is only through their help that we have been able to make such great strides in understanding ASD.

Currently, CAR has 23 grants - along with generous individual donor and hospital funding - that support our research. We have expanded to meet the needs of the community and will continue to grow the number of research studies (currently at 18!), training opportunities, and outreach programs we offer as part of our mission to find the causes of autism and develop effective treatments.

From the entire CAR team, THANK YOU for your continued support. We are truly grateful to be working with this fantastic community of families and professionals. Our work isn't possible without you.
