Heritage faculty member, Elizabeth Zhao-Kanode, is offering a 15-week, after-school, Mandarin Chinese Enrichment program beginning January 25.  The program is open to all EC - 6th grade students.  Download the flyer.

Ms. Watkiss Judges Robotics Championship

For the eighth year, Heritage science teacher, Gina Watkiss, was honored to serve as a judge in the South's BEST Robotics Championship held at Auburn University.  High School finalists with the top winning robots from all areas east of the Mississippi were judged on who created the "best of the best" robots.  Ms. Watkiss served as a team leader for marketing presentations.

Children of all ages had a blast at Breakfast with Santa again this year.  Many thanks to the Parents' Club and the Key Club for putting on a spectacular event, and to Santa and his photographer, Fred Dennin.

PSAT Score Meetings

Parents of Juniors and Sophomores, please attend to receive your student's PSAT scores and test booklet.  We will discuss how to read the test results, how to use that information to prepare for the SAT, what scores are used by colleges, when to take the SAT/ACT, and specifics on what is covered on each test. Both parents and students are welcome to attend.

SOPHOMORES
Wednesday, December 14, 7:45 - 8:30 am in the SLC
 
Please do not call or email asking for your child's scores. If you are unable to attend either of these meetings, Brooke Martin will mail the results home on Thursday. After reviewing them at home, call or email her (bmartin@heritagehawks.org) with questions.  

Seventh Grade Science

Seventh graders transfer energy from a balloon to a light bulbSeventh Graders have been studying Natural Disasters in Earth Science.  In a recent lab, they rubbed balloons on their hair and then touched them to a fluorescent light bulb.  The transfer of energy made the light bulbs illuminate.

Third Grade Studying Native Americans

Mr. Hall shows students a Native American bagThe Third Grade students recently had a special guest, Mr. Hall, who spoke to the students about the Lakota Sioux Native Americans. He helped them set up a tepee and showed them some of his Native American artifacts. He gave the school a wampum belt as a gift and gave Ms. Avery a special beaded necklace.
