On Wednesday, October 26, 15% of local store proceeds for the day will be donated to Heritage. Please consider shopping at the Sara Lee Outlet at 167 Millard Farmer Industrial Boulevard in Newnan on October 26. The more people who shop, the more Sara Lee donates! |
Open House and Game Night
The Heritage School will hold an Admissions Open House and Game Night for prospective new families on Friday, October 28, beginning at 6:30 pm. No other group of people is better equipped to inform prospective parents of what The Heritage School has to offer their children than our current parents and their children.
Accordingly, we would like to invite you to bring a guest family with you to the Varsity football game next Friday. Both your family and your guest family will enjoy free game passes for the Heritage football game against Brookwood. Please bring your guest family to the Admissions tent, which will be set up near the baseball parking lot, to register and pick up your free family game passes. If you have questions, please contact Amy Riley in the Admissions Office at 678-423-5393. |

The French Club will have a "Red Out for Haiti," on Friday, October 28, at the home football game, where students will collect money to send to the school with which Frank Marchman works in Haiti.
This was a great success last year, and our students had the opportunity to meet the director of the school, present him with a check for the money they raised, and hear first-hand how the money they collected helps people in Haiti.
Haiti is a French-speaking country still suffering from the effects of an earthquake. Mr. Marchman works with a school in Terre Rouge (Red Earth), which inspired the theme of the "Red" Out!
During the first part of the week, our students will sell baked goods during XL/break time to raise money, and the week will end with the Red Out at the game. Please help our students support those in need in Haiti!

Grandparents' Club - "Off Our Rockers"

Thank you, Grandparents, for all the great help at the Homecoming game bake sale and cake raffle. The cakes were beautiful and we had just enough cookies and treats, selling out just before the game ended. We raised over $500.00 in start-up funds which will be used toward projects for our grandchildren. Maybe we should begin with a Grandparent party! Would anyone like to volunteer to host a get-together at your home?
There will be many more opportunities to get "off your rockers" and come join in the fun. We would love to have your suggestions for fund raisers and projects we can do together for our grandchildren. If you have a special talent you would like to share, let us know! We would like to include our out-of-state grandparents, as well, so please start thinking of ways they can get "off their rockers," too.
Thank you again for a great start. See you at Grandparents Day, November 17.
Big Hugs,
Sandra and Courtenay |

The magazine features high schools, junior colleges, and universities in the state of Georgia, and gives a preview of every team in the state in public and private schools. The magazine will be on sale in January 2012. |
Lower School Spanish Games |
At least once or twice a year, each Lower School Spanish student has the opportunity to be the "teacher" for a game called ¿Qué Falta?, which means "What's Missing?". A student's name is drawn, and that student removes items from the calendar, such as numbers, days of the week, the month, and pictures, to practice verbs and nouns. The game is played totally in Spanish with the "teacher" asking individual students ¿Qué Falta? and the students responding in Spanish. Our Lower School Spanish teacher, Phyllis Western, uses this game as a fun way to learn and review numbers, days of the week, months, and a few nouns and verbs. The kids absolutely love it - both as the teacher and the student. Pictured above, third grader C. Prater is acting as "teacher" while Ms. Western looks on. |
Community Service Opportunity |
The Chattahoochee Hills area ( www.chatthillsga.us) is a rural community working on protecting and preserving its natural surroundings, including its waters that drain into the Upper Middle Chattahoochee. However, baseline data is needed on a large scale, and they are in need of your help! On Saturday, November 5, volunteers will gather to appreciate the local waterways and sample the water quality (chemical, bacteria, and possibly amphibian surveys) at over 30 sites while also conducting river cleanups. It will be a great time to see this beautiful area and meet the local folks who have many stories to share about the river. After the morning adventures, volunteers are invited to return to base camp (Cochran Mill Nature Center) for homemade chili and good music. Families are welcome. See this flyer for more information. |
