Heritage Alum Receives Global Media Award

Chris Dawson, class of 1989CNN producer, Christopher Dawson, Heritage class of 1989, recently received the 2011 Global Media Award by ShelterBox for his work "delivering thorough and accurate coverage of the relief efforts" following the devastating earthquake in Haiti last year.  Chris "worked tirelessly" to provide CNN viewers with in-depth stories and detailed listings on ways to help. He kept attention on the story and the need for continued aid through Haiti's rescue and recovery. "This recognition from ShelterBox is an honor, and all the more meaningful from such a hands-on organization," said Chris.

ShelterBox distributed over 28,000 ShelterBoxes, including tents, water purification systems, and toolkits, in Haiti, accounting for a quarter of the tents used to shelter those displaced by the disaster.

Congratulations, Chris!  Read the full story...
