The Sophomores performed community service in and around the Newnan area. The Juniors visited multiple colleges. After completing many of their college applications, the Seniors had a time of reflection and relaxation on Cumberland Island. Take a look at our Interim slideshow!

Our School Needs...Your Help to Win $100,000! |

Our school could win $100,000 toward a new gym! Heritage has entered a contest titled "Our School Needs," sponsored by Microsoft's search engine, Bing. Bing is offering the grand prize to the school that gets the highest ratings on its entry.
Our school needs a new gym! We have made our case through an essay, four photos, and a short video. The pictures were taken by our talented AP Photography students, and the video was produced by Heritage sophomore and video whiz kid, Kent Edwards. The only way we can win this contest is if you help Heritage earn a high rating! Here are step-by-step instructions for giving us five stars: - Click this link to view our entry. http://ourschoolneeds.discoverbing.com/projects/default.aspx?prj=632
- There is a row of 5 stars above the video. Click the 5th star.
- A small sentence will appear below the stars. Click the "Log In" link.
- Click the Create Account button and fill out all fields.
- Wait for a confirmation email to arrive in your inbox. (This takes at least 2 minutes.)
- Follow the link in the email to verify your address. Don't log in yet!
- Click this link to go back to our entry: http://ourschoolneeds.discoverbing.com/projects/default.aspx?prj=632
- Click the 5th star.
- Click the Log In link beneath the stars.
- Enter your user name and password, then click the Login button.
- Click the 5th star again!
- You should now see, above the stars, "You have rated this project: 5/5." Once you see that, you have successfully rated us.
You can only rate us once, so please spread the word, asking every family member, friend, and neighbor to also give us five stars! If you have Facebook friends and Twitter followers, ask them to do the same! Thank you! Now cross your fingers! We could win! |

The Heritage faculty is continually working on professional development. Frank Marchman is pictured here with Dawn Burnette, author of the Daily Grammar Practice program that we use from 1st grade through 12th grade. Heritage has used this program for about six years and implemented the latest update for the 2010-2011 school year. In August, Heritage had the wonderful opportunity for Dawn and her partner, Judith Holbrook, to conduct an inservice for all of the Lower School faculty and the English teachers of grades 5 - 12.
Next month, the Heritage faculty will attend the Georgia Independent School Association's Annual Conference in Atlanta. They will hear a keynote address by Sir Ken Robinson, Ph.D, author of the groundbreaking book, Out of Our Minds: Learning to Be Creative, a book that each of our teachers read this summer. Sir Ken urges schools to rethink how they develop creativity and educate students to meet the extraordinary challenges of living and working in the 21st century. |

The Heritage Fun Run was a huge success!
The Parents' Club was excited to host the Heritage Fun Run! Its members would like to thank the students, teachers, volunteers, family and friends for making the event a huge success. A special thank you to Mr. Jeffrey Amezqua, father of Niyah in the EC classroom, for photographing the Fun Run!
The Heritage School continues to promote physical fitness and encourage kids in motion. This run, while providing motivation to adhere to a healthy lifestyle and improve general fitness, also helps fund technology equipment for our school and gives 10% to each classroom teacher who participates.
The Parents' Club appreciates your support and is grateful to all of you for your generosity towards The Heritage School. Collection envelopes were due on October 14. If you have not yet returned your envelope, please turn it in to your classroom teacher as soon as possible.

Heritage sports are fun for the whole family. The fall sports season is drawing to a close, and the weather is wonderful for enjoying the remaining football and cross country events!
Football Be sure to check the football web pages each week for game results. This week's schedule of games is as follows: - The Varsity plays Harvester in Douglasville at 7:00 tonight. Directions to the game are online.
- The Middle School (7-0) wrapped up an undefeated regular season with a 37-7 victory over Harvester Christian yesterday. This year, many metro area private schools formed a MS league with two divisions and will have a four-team playoff beginning Thursday. Heritage will be the #1 seed from the West and will host the #2 Eastern team (as yet undetermined) on Thursday at 6:00 pm. Loganville Christian is the #1 seed from the East. There will be a three-way tie in the Western Division for second place, so those teams (Flint River, Harvester, and Trinity Christian) will have a three-team tie breaker series on our campus Monday at 6:00 pm to determine who will play Loganville. Join us for the games on Monday and Thursday!
Cross Country The JV girls' and boys' Cross Country teams ran very well at their "state-like" AA "Ender" meet this week. The girls' team won, led by sisters Ruthie and Zofia Powell, who finished first and fourth respectively. The boys' team came in second, led by Rich Yancey and Tripp Brown, who each finished in the top ten at third and ninth respectively. These top runners were all supported by their teammates for their teams' successes. Way to go, JV!
The Varsity team will host the Region 4AA meet tomorrow, October 16, at 10:00 am (boys' race) and 10:30 am (girls' race) here at Heritage. Don't miss this chance to see our runners in action, on a beautiful day, in the lovely pecan grove. Also, remember to donate your lightly used shoes in the Soles4Souls collection bin at the race or in the SLC. The shoes will go all over the world to people in need. Last day to donate your shoes - Monday, October 18. |
