Around Campus

We are quite excited to have added six bright red tricycles to our equipment for the Early Learning Center.  They will be used by the classroom teachers, PE program, and Extended Day to provide our children with an outdoor riding play option, and for gross motor development, so crucial in the development of a young child.

Ms. Garth's third graders visited Ms. Gina's lab this week. They used the microscopes to view spiders they had caught on campus, and got an up close view of the body parts they had studied when they learned the differences between arachnids and insects.

Save the Date!

Grandparents' Day is coming up on November 5, Festivities begin at 8:20 am and last until noon. Please let grandparents know!  A mailed invitation will follow.

NEW Virtual Tour Online
There is a new Virtual Tour on the Heritage Website!  The tour is actually a film produced by talented Heritage students in last year's video class.  It was not meant to be a Heritage tour, but it is such a fun look at so much of the campus, we could not resist adding to the website as a Virtual Tour.  Be sure to take a look - and listen (turn on your volume)!
Time to Order Yearbooks!

Order now for the discounted price of $40. After November 1, the price will be $60. It is also time to start thinking about senior ad orders.

NEW Campus Store Hours
Heritage logo

Our Campus Store is now open every Tuesday from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm.  This will give parents a chance to shop before carpool and students a chance to browse after school.

The rest of the week, students may fill out an order form at the front desk at any time.  Orders will be fulfilled and delivered three times daily: 8:30 am, noon, and 4:00 pm.  Students needing a PE uniform should be aware of the delivery times and be sure to fill out an order form accordingly.

Many thanks to parent volunteer, Jennifer Underwood (Tricia, grade 4, and Lee, grade 2), for staffing the store on Tuesdays.
Help Heritage - Use Your Target REDcard!
Target logo

Did you know that you can contribute to Heritage just by doing your regular shopping? Target has a program called "Take Charge of Education," and it's helping Heritage right now!

Here's how it works: Visit target.com/tcoe or call 1-800-316-6142 to designate Heritage as your school, then use your REDcard whenever you shop. When you use your REDcard, Target will donate 1% of your purchases to Heritage. Don't have a REDcard? Apply for one in person at Target, or go to target.com/redcard. The Target Visa REDcard can be used everywhere Visa Credit Cards are accepted!

Heritage has already received a check from this program. Thank you for participating! Please encourage grandparents, family, friends and neighbors to "Take Charge of Education" as well!

Faculty Spotlight

At the Heritage School, we are very proud of our faculty members, but we are not the only ones who think highly of them!  Our teachers frequently get recognition off campus.

Faculty member Doug KeysDoug Keys, our Instrumental Music teacher, was asked by Dr. Lyn Schenbeck, the strings director for the Coweta County schools, to speak to her orchestral strings/guitar class about his time in the music business. He took his AP Music students with him this week when he spoke to her class at the CEC.

Galveston Caddy, by David Boyd, Jr.David Boyd, Jr., Middle and Upper School Art teacher (and Heritage alumnus), has a painting featured in the Oil Painters of America (OPA) show to be held in Walls Fine Art Gallery in Wilmington, NC, from October 17 to November 17.  His piece is called Galveston Caddy.  OPA is a top tier organization dedicated to preserving the realism in oil painting. It is quite an honor for David to be selected into the OPA group, and even more so to have a piece selected for the show.  You can see a video preview of the 100 selections on the Walls Fine Arts Gallery website.
